Title:Write and develop a 1 day \"teach the teacher\" training course

Location:Remote

Job Description

We are a medical training company and offer career development courses to doctors. We are commissioning the development of a two day Teach the Teacher course and are looking at providers to write and develop the course training material and programme.

We are looking for someone to develop the day’s training incorporating the curriculum below and will involve writing a structured programme and also the course material. The aim of the course is to teach the theory of learning and give individual opportunity for our clients to understand how they teach, why they do it, and how they can improve. Much of the curriculum is based around known educational theory. Clients would be expected to receive pre course material for preparation of various scenarios during the course and also to receive handouts containing the course content for post course development. Whilst we have listed some aspects of the material that we would like to be included in the course there is a significant amount of flexibility around what is to be delivered and the method of its delivery. You would be required to:

-Write the course programme around the curriculum
-Write the lectures, based on the programme, and incorporate the content into Powerpoint presentations where required. These presentations must contain the key points from the curriculum below and be appropriate for the time allocated for that session. Our company logo will need to be incorporated onto these slides.
-Teaching methods are flexible and can incorporate lectures, workshops, case discussions, break out sessions and small group tasks. However the course will be delivered by a sole trainer and the maximum target audience will be 20 attendees.
-It is desirable that those attending the course have full involvement and that the curriculum is delivered in a fun and user-involved manner.
-The course will run between 9am-5pm and will have a morning coffee break of 15mins, lunch of 45mins and afternoon coffee of 15mins.
-Naturally, some of the content would need to be delivered via lectures with time set aside for group involvement and group tasks to show, teach and reinforce the curriculum.

Please only bid on this if you have had active involvement in education and training. Preference will be given to those with a previous track record of educational course development and delivery.
The material in the form of Powerpoint slides would be printed and distributed to each of our clients and therefore we would need to hold the copyright for the material commissioned. Simply rebranding someone else’s material would be unacceptable.
The successful bidder would be required to be available via the telephone or to meet us, based in Oxford, to discuss the proposed course and to make changes and amendments of the material after we reviewed it in completion.
The project would be deemed complete on receipt of the programme, Powerpoint slides, course material (including pre and post course elements) and also details for small group activities.
This project does not include the provision of training however if we find that the project has been completed by someone who could deliver the material then we would consider further discussions as to contracting this individual to deliver the material. Please indicate in your bid if you would be willing to deliver the material and also indicate what daily facilitator rate you would be looking for. We aim to run this course once a month initially, based in oxford with plans to also run courses in London.

Curriculum and Topics that we would like included in this 2-day course includes:

• Understanding how adults learn- Kolbs Learning Cycle
• Understanding and writing learning objectives and outcomes
• Understanding facilitator/trainer styles ( Herons model of six category intervention analysis)
• The use of a pre course learning styles questionnaire
• How to give and receive feedback
• Curriculum design
• Dealing with disruptive and dominant students
• How to prepare a teaching session
• Different presentation techniques
• Validating and improving a teaching session
• Effective vs ineffective teachers
• Individual exercises where clients can deliver a small teaching session (both 1-2-1 and small group based) and receive group and facilitator feedback
• Various group exercises and client interaction to demonstrate and reinforce the above curriculum

The successful candidate would need to communicate with us during the development of the day’s training material so that we can give feedback on the proposed material and be amenable to take feedback onboard and incorporate into the day’s material.
The time line for the development of this material is 4 weeks.

Just to clarify that this will be a 2 day training course and not 1 day as incorrectly indicated in the title of the advert (which i cannot edit). Thanks

Hello

I am interested in bidding for your project, but I just wanted to clarify one thing.

Is your proposed deadline 4 weeks from acceptance of a bid? Do you have any dates in mind for the course?

Many thanks

Louise Witt
