I have dos program that I would like converted to a windows type application the existing program at present is about 60 kb at present and is a mathmatical program that predicts the outcome of horse racing using certain variables.

I would need the application so that only I would be able to gain access in order to make various updates etc and also enter the appropriate variables.

I will design the dropdown page that would be required for the said application I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you

I have 25+ yrs of experience in software development starting from mainframes to DOS and to windows all versions. Please provide more details of the project and I shall be glad to take up the work at very efordable price.

Is it possible to see your program. What you will have to do is to layout the requirements for the job.

Wow! This sort of program definitely comes from Sinclair's ZX Spectrum age! Am I right?

Hi Yes, it is from this age and I originally used this program on an amstrad 9512 I have now throughly updated this and converted it to run in the PC format thanks for your question.Regards Roy

    Hi there,

Do you know what language the DOS program is written in and do you have the source code?

Hi JulesThe DOS program is written in QBasic and I have the source code and will design the drop down page for the new software thanks for your question.Regards Roy

    Hi Roy,
Can we see the 'drop down page'? Do you have the algorithm/formula or are we required to figure it out from the old program?

Hi ChrisThe drop down page is at the moment being designed and when complete I will send this with the algorithm/formula thank you.Regards Roy

Could you please share the DOS file so that I can get an idea of the inputs and outputs?

  • Glenn S.

Is there any way to see the DOS program in action? This will help in providing a bid.

Hi Glen I will try to arrange this but may take some time we'll see thanks.Regards Roy

    Hi Akash

As long as the project is carried out under the rules
of peopleperhour.com the project is open to those who
    wish to make a bid.

Al the input data can be acquired from the internet or
other means such as the racing press and is input by the
user for every race you rate.

The predictions are then output to the user and printed
out and could also be stored in a database or datafile
I hope this helps thank you.

    Hi Roy,
I have experience in something very similar to this.
Could you provide a little more information please. Where do the stats for each horse come from? are they input by the user for each race? are the predictions just to be output to the user or stored in a database/datafile?

    Hi Chris

All the data can be acquired from the internet or other
means from the racing press and is input by the user for
    every race they rate.

The predictions are then output to the user can be printed
out and could be stored in a database or datafile I hope
    this helps thank you.
