Web site logo + design

I am working on a website / phone-app project that needs a design. I can code and can implement a design but I can't make things look good.

Lots of white space. White. Clean. Crisp.

But not quite as fancy as these ones that I like:

The goal is to get something acceptable out so that end users can start testing without feeling ill when they look at the screen!
