Title:Type typewriter-written collection of poems into Word
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I have a bound collection of poems. They were typewritten years ago, and now I want them converted to Word.
The collection is 264 typewritten pages, with approximately 200 words per page (obviously it varies), for an estimated total of 52,800 words.
The job is to type the entire collection into Word (including some scribbled corrections), very accurately and neatly, preserving the format of the poems (stanzas, etc), and returning the original bound copy along with the completed Word document.
This is a job for a highly literate person who can understand poetic English, to avoid mis-transcriptions. A fast typist and conscientious worker is also required.
NOTE
Clarification based on questions from bidders.. Apologies for not clarifying as this is my first job posted:
1) I will mail the original bound manuscript to you by registered mail if you are selected.
2) I will require the job completed a maximum of 5 days after you receive the manuscript. Bidders with shorter turnaround times will be preferred.
3) I will require the finished job in both soft copy (in Microsoft Word) and hard copy. The hard copy should be mailed back to me by registered mail along with the original manuscript. The soft copy should be e-mailed. Please include the cost of printing and postage in your bid if you haven;t already done so.
4) I'm not too particular about fonts, binding etc as long as the finished work is neatly and properly presented in line with the original manuscript.
5) I prefer bidders in London, although this is not a strict requirement, and bidders outside London will be considered based on qiality and cost. Please indicate your location if possible.

I would expect the project to be completed a maximum of 5 days from receipt of the bound manuscript. Bidders who can do it in the shortest time will have an advantage.
P. A. on 22/03/2010 13:35Hello, very interested in your position. I have a couple of questions I\'d be obliged if you could respond on. How would the documents be sent to the successful applicant? From receipt of your documents, how quickly would you require the documents returned to you? Would you require an electronic copy and/or hard copy posted to you? Would you issue instructions as to font type and size you would require. Many thanks, Patricia.

H. Y. on 23/03/2010 12:06Hi Patricia
I will send the bound manuscript to the successful applicant by registered mail. Bidders in London are preferred for this reason. I would like the documents returned a maximum of 5 days from receipt of the original. I would require both a soft copy in Word and a hard copy posted back by registerd mail along with the original manuscript.
I. S. on 22/03/2010 14:37Dear Hakeem, Very interesting project. I expect you are going to post your bound collection of poems . To be able to bid I would need to know if you need a hard-copy or electronic copy and also will you give details of the font/outlay please? I have sent various scripts to publishers and some have their own requirements of the presentation. Unfortunately due to the costs of ink/paper (if hard copy is needed) my bid would have to be adjusted accordingly. Thank you very much. Ilse-Maria

I will require both a soft copy (in Word) and hard copy of the completed work. I am not too particular about the font, as long as the poems are properly laid out and presented in a readable form, as they are in the original manuscript.
C. C. on 22/03/2010 16:49Dear Hakeem
Please could you confirm that you require the completed job back in Microsoft Word format - i.e., softcopy. Please could you also confirm if you have a deadline for completion.
Thank you and kind regards

H. Y. on 23/03/2010 12:09Hi Claree
I would like the completed job back in both soft copy (in Microsoft Word) and hard copy, the latter posted back to me by registered mail along with the original manuscript).
J. O. on 23/03/2010 08:52Hi Hakeem
This is an interesting job. I would also like to know whether you will require the Word document returned in hard or soft copy form, and whether you will issue further instructions about font, etc. But I would also like clarification on the hand-written corrections: are these simply to be taken into the document as if they were the original words, or do you require some form of footnoting to flag them as later corrections? Thank you.
Jill

H. Y. on 23/03/2010 12:13Hi Jill
The Word document should be returned in both hard and soft copy form. I am not too particular about font etc as long as the poems are neatly and properly presented as in the original manuscript. The handwritten corrections are to be incorporated intothe document.
J. W. on 23/03/2010 20:59Dear Hakeem,
I would be very interested in placing a bid for this job - would you be able to send a sample of what needs to be typed up please.
Thanks
Jayne

J. M. on 24/03/2010 11:14Dear Hakeem
I have software than can convert hardcopy text in to soft copy text. Is the current bound manuscript in a form that can be unbound? Do you have any objections if it is unbound?

H. Y. on 24/03/2010 13:41Hi Jayesh
Many of the pages are photocopies, some have faint text and some have many scribbled corrections. So it is unlikely that they can be scanned in any good quality. Even if they were scanned, they would robably still need to be corrected extensively due to the inaccuracy of the scan. So it's probably more efficient (for a fast typist anyway) to just type the whole manuscript from scratch.
M. K. on 24/03/2010 14:06Hi Hakeem
I would like to be considered for this job. I am a fast and accurate typist and would guarantee that I would have this done for you in less than 5 days.
Kind regards

Thanks for the feedback. I envisage correcting any inaccuracies. Key question: Do you mind the original manuscript being unbound?

I would prefer the original manuscript to remain unbound as a point of reference for checking the accuracy of the Word copy.
