Title:Troubleshooting a Linux server

Location:South London

Job Description

We need someone to sit down with our web developer and spend a day looking at our remote (web) server; understanding how it is set up, what is actually on it (!) advising on the best way to manage it and communicating this to our developer, who is currently learning Linux but needs an initial bit of guidance.

This is simply a *root through*, an evaluation/assessment and feedback job if you like - not a training job, but obviously feeding back your findings to our developer!

We just need to clarify what's what and take control of our server from a somewhat errant and secretive administrator!

If you think you can help -we'd love to hear from you!

What is the remote Linux server (Web hosting) or a server setup on a remote site.

What flavour of Linux is it (ubuntu, Red hat, Suse or one of the many others. )
I am only guessing you may be using this remote server to either host or test web sites.

Hi Andrew
Yes we\'re using the servers (there are two) to host a range of websites.

As far as I understand it, we use Apache, MySql and I think it\'s Red Hat, but I can check this tomorrow for you.

Hopefully the ad is clearish - this is like a poke around job; basically exploring what we\'ve got a making some intelligent noises about what our next steps might be!
