Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We run a portal containing information about power plants. We create Source items for information that we find during our research, and attach a PDF file of the document / web page. The job here is to go through those Source items to tidy them up, and add keywords.
This job is for 100 items, if it goes well then we'll invite you to bid for further jobs (we have >1000 more Source items to work on).
You will be given a login to our system. All work is done in that system. Each Source item is viewed on its own page, with embedded PDF viewing.
This is NOT a mindless data processing job. You MUST have excellent English in order to edit the (single-sentence) descriptions. Errors will not be accepted (such as incorrect keywords, or misspelled descriptions).
The required actions are:
- Check that the PDF is 'nicely' printed. If not, record source ID number in list A. Move to next source.
- Check that the PDF indeed matches the source. If not, record source ID number in list B. Move to next source.
- Check and edit the description. Key elements:
- It must state where it is from, e.g. "CompanyX website"
- It must state what it is, e.g. "page on technical details for PlantY"
- It must be good English, without spelling mistakes and clear capitalisation
- Check/enter the source date
- For an annual report 2008, it is 31-12-2008
- If it is a brochure, open the PDF and check its properties for creation date
- Otherwise, in the bottom-right of the PDF pages will be the print date
- Click the Scan for Keywords button. This will perform a scan of the PDF for keywords. In the popup:
- Check/select the Country - i.e. the country where the plant being discussed are located
- Check/select the Language of the PDF document
- Select the source Type - whether the source covers one plant, multiple plant, etc
- Edit the list of Companies keywords
- Make sure that only the relevant companies are listed
(often the PDF contains random other names)
- Edit the list of Plant name keywords
- As per company - here you can also refer to the table "plant using this source"
- Click OK
- Re-check that everything looks sensible, spelling etc
- Click Processed to indicate the item is completed
- Close Source tab and move to the next one.
There will be initial on-line training (using Skype) to check understanding of the above.
