T. N. on 18/03/2010 11:37Hello Sam,
I have a few further questions to clarify your requirements/specifications.
1. Will you be providing all the product descriptions as well?
2. What is the nature of your business?
3. Will the images be hi-res as well as ready to use? or do they require manipulation?
4. The posting is marked urgent, therefore when is your print deadline?
Finally I would suggest you look at increasing your budget. To provide a high quality product catalogue that is 32pp and with the posting marked as urgent, the budget of 'less than £250' won't attract top providers.
regards,
Tasneem

T. N. on 18/03/2010 12:31Hello Sam,
Thank you for your response. I would just like to note that it is understandable to 'take cost into account' however, your previous job postings that have not been awarded and had numerous comments with regards to budget should indicate where the problem lies.
As noted time and time again you get what you pay for and no qualified professional will quote less than £1000 for this type of job, and that is taking 'cost into account', giving a heavily discounted rate.
regards,
Tasneem

H. H. on 18/03/2010 12:40Hi Sam,
Just a quick question regarding the images, have these already been edited ready for print. i.e. 300dpi, cmyk and have paths? As the additional cost of editing 600 images will significantly increase the final price.
Thanks,
Hayley

N. M. on 18/03/2010 17:18Hi Sam
Can you tell me how you want the final job presenting - i.e Hi-Res Pdf - or do you want in the program it is created in like In-Design or Quark.
I am asking because of the comment:
"all various formats should be usable as we might send the CD abroad for printing."
Regards
Norma

T. L. on 18/03/2010 19:40600 photos, 36 pages, for what amounts to £6.94 a page including inevitable corrections, no doubt with retouching and cropping of photos and copy editing/correction, complete with the correct pagination, burned onto numerous disks in several file formats?....and they said slave labour was finished in his country

A. J. on 18/03/2010 22:29Another crazy budget. Honestly, no wonder the business is in such a state. A 36pp brochure that needs to look professional, for UNDER £250, taking off PPH comission, less than £7 per page! Good luck, I would love to see the finished brochure!
M. O. on 19/03/2010 01:10This has got to be the most unrealistic budget I have seen here for a long time! Less than £250 for designing and generating artwork for a 36 page catalogue complete with sorting up to 600 photographs? Oh, and to a very high standard finish as well! Hahahahahahaha!
I find this very insulting Sam to be perfectly honest. I undertake a 164 page catalogue for a client every year and quite frankly if you think your budget is realistic, the sight of my final invoice would give you a heart attack.
But again I see we have someone here by the name of Norma actually asking questions about how the work needs to be presented, obviously with a view to taking the job on.
D. C. on 21/03/2010 23:06Please can people not bid on this project. Any professional designer willing to work on a document at the rate of £7 per page is an absolute fool. It is projects like this that are ruining pph as the clients have completely unrealistic value of design, yet someone always makes a stupid bid. If you upped your expectations to £1200+ you may get a well designed document.
At £250 good luck - you get what you pay for. i.e rubbish
M. O. on 23/03/2010 01:14What are your product prices like in the catalogue? Do they reflect the pittance you are offering someone to design and produce it for you?
M. O. on 30/03/2010 14:43Pay peanuts you will get monkeys
A. B. on 08/04/2010 12:48Is this a different joke, sorry, job, from the 32 page brochure that attracted many sarcastic comments regarding its budget?
I have a pet monkey who is available to do this for you.
L. S. on 15/04/2010 00:14This is a very unrealistic budget, what a shame, otherwise an interesting job.
