Job Description

I would like to find someone who has relationships with appropriate newspaper/magazine contacts to get my business on a far wider stage.

I run a coaching service to help people with their writing ability - which covers their skills at expression and improvement of their literacy levels.

I can write the advertorials/press releases, but need someone to actually place them for me and make inroads/pitches on my behalf.

hi there

what market/genre are you looking at?

F. I.F. I. on 03/09/2009 16:03 pm
Can you tell me what kind of coverage you are expecting for this? Do you want local newspaper coverage, or are you aiming higher?

Frances

Hi Kerry,
Any market really, I don't want to target anything already associated with 'writing' or heavy literature as they will have no need for my coaching.
Anything aimed at the 'norm' i.e. women's magazines, anything referring to blogging, or job searching, adult education outlets - these areas will involve the average person needing a professional writing style to be successful or improve their prospects. These are just a few examples but I hope you see what I am getting at. If not, please do not hesitate to ask for specific clarification.
Thanks, Diane

Hi Frances,
As high a coverage as budget will allow. However, I do not know what my budget is as I have not commissioned a project like this before. That is why I thought it best to just see what bidders would ask to be paid and go from there.

Do you require UK coverage or International Coverage?

How many releases do you intend to issue?

Will you allow the bidder to change text to make it more market friendly?
D. H.D. H. on 03/09/2009 16:55 pm
Hi David,
I would like coverage on both levels as I have had American and Australian clients, but I think budget may restrict this and the amount of releases; though this is at the discretion of the bidder. Of course the bidder could alter content as I understand each release will need a relevant angle or hook to the appropriate publication.
Thanks

Hi Diane

I think there are 2 crucial questions that I would like answered:
who do you perceive is your target market, and
what do you think your own USP is?

The answers should help us all determine the level of media coverage required and give us a chance of providing a realistic bid.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
Target market is 21-55, predominantly male but not to alienate females either. My service is separate to an English tutor - I don't want to appeal to any market that uses English as its second language, it is purely towards people with below-average grammar and spelling skills and lack of expression and vocabulary.
My USP is that the coaching is one-to-one, not en masse like my competitors in the corporate arena; it's out-of-hours to not detract from business productivity; it is affordable; I have past experience and recommendations from previous clients; it can all be done from their armchair; no time limit, and the main one - the coaching is completely tailored to their current skills as everybody's needs are different.
