Title:Press Release & Newsletter Writing for online furniture boutique
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
Coco Målé is a small but chic online boutique selling furniture and home accessories. We are currently looking to outsource the below two writing/ marketing/ PR tasks:
1. MONTHLY PRESS RELEASE (300 words)
Drafting monthly press release
Distributing releases via email to the national press - we have a list of contacts but if you have your own contacts that would be a bonus
2. MONTHLY NEWSLETTER (150-200 words)
Drafting monthly newsletter and distributing to our subscribers
We already have a pre-designed template on mailchimp, but you’ll need to add the respective images, check that all the links work etc...
Newsletters must be stylish and have some kind of edge to ensure a low unsubscribe rate
The successful candidate will be given complete control/ responsibility on the above i.e. there will be very minimal input from our side; you will be responsible with coming up with new themes/ topics to write about, choosing products from our website that fit each season (i.e. Father’s day gifts etc), preparing and sending these off, choosing images etc...
Our budget is small but as this will be an ongoing, monthly project, hopefully we can agree on a fixed fee that will be worth your while!!

C. S. on 18/07/2011 14:16Hi Katerina
Two questions please:
1. To date, you've had extensive PR in women's and homeware press. May I ask why you're now looking for a PR resource on PPH?
2. How often do you change your stock?
Kind regards
Claire

K. M. on 18/07/2011 14:59Hi Claire,
Yes, I've been doing the PR myself and thankfully we've had some great coverage so far but that's mostly ad hoc and following direct image requests from journalists rather than the other way around.
I'd like to now step it up a level and bombard them with monthly press releases so our name is constantly in their mind if you see what I mean!! Unfortunately, I don't have the time nor the skills to be writing compelling press releases every month so am looking to outsource this if possible. Of course, I'll still be liaising with journalists directly and sending them pics etc. but I think a monthly press release especially in the run-up to specific events (mother's day, valentines, chrstimas etc) is essential.
In regards to stock, we don't drastically change our range which I know is a problem in respect to finding new angles to write about. I'd say we add about a dozen new items on average per month and a lot more in the new year of course.
Hope this helps and thank you for your interest!

G. S. on 18/07/2011 19:26Hello Katerina
Your budget is small but how small?
Sounds like a nice project but the number of bids doesn't reflect this.
Must be because of the lack of intended rewards.

K. M. on 18/07/2011 20:04Hi Gordon,
I will review all bids/ applications and will base my decision both on price and past experience & feedback.
I believe people should bid at a price they personally feel comfortable doing the work for, especially since it is a long-term project and not a one-off.
Kind regards.
Katerina
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
