I have been asked to create an online English Test for a current website client of mine. I could code this myself in html and php but I'm wondering if someone knows a better, more efficient and user-friendly way of creating what they're looking for.
The English Test is really pre-course assessment prior to a student enrolling in a TESOL course. There are a number of tasks that they have to complete with a variety of ways that they need to be answered. These different types of test are:
1. Student is given a paragraph of text with a number of words underlined. For each underlined word they need to be able to click on it and select whether the word is a noun, adverb, adjective etc.
2. Student is given a short sentence and they need to identify each of the verbs in the sentence and for each verb identified determine whether it is a lexical verb or an auxilliary verb.
3. Student is given a short sentence with some some errors in it. They need to rewrite the sentence correctly.
4. Student is given a paragraph of text and they have to identify where each of the prepositions, conjunctions and determiners appear in the passage.
5. Student is given a short sentence with a missing word. The student needs to fill in the missing word.
6. Student is given a list of words and they have to specify the number of syllables in each word.
7. Student is given a list of words and they need to identify the portion of the word where the syllable would be stressed.
Each of the answers will be marked and stored in a mysql database.
I can code all that is required for the student to log in etc but wondered if anyone had a good solution for how to carry out the types of task above? I'm looking for someone who is happy to work alongside me to complete this project. The client would like this completing in October/November.
When bidding please explain how you would go about creating the functionality required for this task.
Thanks,
Victoria
