Title:Ms access xml import
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
We require a VBA Module for MS to allow us to send an XML file (store as a memo field in an MS Access table) to an HTTPS gateway (variable).
Once the XML message has been sent, we then require the response to be stored in another memo field within the same record.
The table also includes the time the message was sent and the time the message was recieved.
This is part of an MS Access database that is currently in development. We have good knowlege of MS Access but are struggling with how to send and recieve XML to an HTTPS gateway.

T. G. on 12/08/2009 17:54Hi,
This is quite a complex issue using MS Access. I have managed to build something like this using VFP which is similar to Access and that was very involved too.
You might like to get your developers to attempt something similar to the approach that I took which involves creating a form with a hidden web browser control in it. This web browser control can be made to run an ASP page which can then call an asp page on the web server and this way you can pass data between the two web pages. This would allow communication in both directions which is what you need to pass your XML data and receive a response.
Hope this helps to stimulate a thought process with for your developers.

M. R. on 13/08/2009 09:48Hi,
This isn't too much of a problem for us as we are used to programming xml web service interfaces to allow recruitment agencies to post to various job boards.
Can I ask what is going to call the procedure? i.e. would this just be a case of providing a module and you will be hooking it in to your access system?
On a seperate note, which version of access are you using?
Thanks...
B. D. on 13/08/2009 10:53What version of MS Access do you use. Its possible to use VBA for what you have described.
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
