Job Description
Am looking to produce a short film (about 45 min) and looking for a creative person to produce the storyline/script for the film.
The script/storyline can be as creative as you like, but the story needs to centre around a male character being unexpectedly captured and bound. When you post your bid, you need to give an outline your ideas for the characters involved, the setting, any twists, etc. You need to be able to work with me to flesh out these ideas, and later on make any amendments if necessary.
I need to also be able to see previous examples of your work. I'm looking for a quick turnaround time on this, so if you're able to start asap, then definitely make a bid. Thank you.

A. W. on 21/01/2009 12:49Hi,
Can you give any indication of your own previous work? I think this might help to establish whether we can do anything together. Also, is this a film you are making for a festival, a competition, on spec...?
Best,
Alice

This is my first project... It is for a commercial purpose (not a commercial though), based on a spec provided by the investor.

F. P. on 21/01/2009 15:53Hello
I am interested in bidding on this project. I have written novels and short stories in the past, and have examples of these, and have also written scripts for short plays, but do not have an example to hand, as this was a few years ago. Nonetheless, I am confident I could do a good job on this project. Would you consider a bid?
Regards
Fergus

C. L. on 22/01/2009 12:41Sorry but I am constantly shocked at how low everyone bids on this website! I have a feature film that came out in the cinema last year and it took two years to develop at only 90 pages! How can people offer to write a film (45 pages long on MovieMagic) of well thought out characters, storyline etc. for £120??? Something that people would invest in and produce? I would spend a month working night and day at the very least to come up with a really solid first draft. But not for 4£ a day! I sincerely hope that Paul Seaton who won this bid has negotiated a full credit and some deferral money. If not it's pure slavery! When did earning double figures per hour go out of fashion! Anyway it's all too disheartening. Years of qualifications and experience to earn 50 quid pre-tax and pre-PPH commision. Can someone explain either what I'm doing wrong or whether I live in a dream world...! ;)
C. R. on 23/01/2009 15:53Camilla, I totally agree.
It seems the lowest bid wins on PPH and makes a mockery of reasonable freelance writing wages.
Price first, quality second wins every time. Paul obviously ticks all those boxes, with good experience and a very low price. But how he can afford to do it for £150 is beyond me too 8 P
J. B. on 23/01/2009 16:28I think what you are both forgetting is that we're in a financial turmoil at the moment. The Uk economy shrank again in the 4th quarter last year according to the ONS today. Another few more quarters of negative growth and we'll be in a depression.
Look around you folks, everyone's being layed off left, right and centre, and those that are commanding economy boom wages are living in denial. Creative Literature is considered a luxury good, and You're lucky to even have demand for these services at the moment, in a climate where companies and people a tightening up their belts.
Paul should be commended for being savvy, who got in there and now has work, compared to you two who missed out and are still living in a dream. Wake up from your deluded dreams!
C. L. on 06/02/2009 15:37Er John, don't think so. If someone wants to pay to have a film written, they must have a plan B to go with it! Sorry, but I wouldn't go to my post office savings account and say yeah, I've 120 quid left, you know what I'll make a movie. Very Bowfinger! If you think wanting to earn more than £4 a day is deluded I wonder which country and which era you hail from! Recession or no recession, 20 pence a hour is taking the 'p'! I can't feed/clothe myself and a child on that.
