Job Description
Following the death of my Hungarian father last year, I still have issues to resolve in Budapest. My father had dual citizenship, Hungarian & British. He owned an apartment in Budapest which according to his Hungarian will has passed to myself and 2 siblings who are all British. I need help in sorting out any legal requirements following his death, eg informing land registry, dealing with his bank accounts. We would also like to sell the appartment. I am visiting Budapest 6 - 13 September.

Clarification Board
R. M. on 27/08/2010 13:38 pmI would suggest that you retain a Hungarian probate lawyer whose fees can be paid from the proceeds of the sale of the apartment. I would be happy to recommend someone suitable and act as your UK adviser if needed.
Best regards
Robert Marcus
E. B. on 27/08/2010 18:37 pmThanks for the message. I could certainly help you with this if you want my help. Why don\'t we meet when you come over here. The cost of selling the flat will be a percentage of the sale price. This is usually between 3 and 5% depending on value and time spent marketing it. The changes to the Land Registry are likely to be charged on an hourly basis. All this can be done by a Hungarian Lawyer which I am not but I can arrange for you to see one. It is not a difficult process. There may be English legal issues as well in which I will be happy to assist on an hourly basis as you indicate. I suggest we proceed on this basis. I would not think my actual costs wold be very high at all. It depends how much time I realistically have to devote to it.
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
