Title:Internet Explorer Add-In Development
Location:Ringwood
Job Description
We need an Active X Add-on for Internet Explorer developed that would be downloadable and installable from our web site. It becomes active when the user visits a predefined site.
It will be able to query a remote server via web services, retrieve some content and inject that content into the html that the browser is displaying.
It will also locate and send parts of the page content to a remote server.
Needs username and password to be entered. These will be encrypted along with the other data when sending to the server. If they aren’t recognised by the server it will respond appropriately and display a message.
It should be able to check a remote server to see if an update is available, and stop working if it is out of date with latest version (prompt download and install of new version, auto update?)
It should be able to check for messages on a daily basis and inject these into the content or display via a dialogue box.
See http://www.xmarks.com/about/features/smarter_search for an example of an \'add on\' that does something like this.
We require this to be developed with a tool called Add-in Express for Internet Explorer (see http://www.add-in-express.com/programming-internet-explorer/)
Development of the web site and web services will be done by ourselves.
More detail can be provided after signing an Non Disclosure Agreement.

A. M. on 06/05/2010 12:53HI,
This is not a problem if you are using Add in Express, its such a time saver! - It means you just want us to write application code and will prefer .NET
I am sure we can help but need to know more about your project, budget and time frame to assess if we can deliver on time- I also want to know if your site is already ready and or you will do this later on.
Thanks

C. L. on 06/05/2010 13:16Budget is upto a max of £40 per hour.
Time Frame: project will start within 2-3 weeks. We estimate it will take roughly 10 days full time work to complete. Working on this part time is acceptible.
Web service development will be done by us before/while the Add in is built. Site will be done after the Add in is complete.
It is desirable for the Freelancer to be able to work at our offices during at least some of the build to facilitate communication. The more time the better.
A. M. on 06/05/2010 14:18HI Richard,
Many thanks - Where are you based - we are based in London.
To be honest if I send you a developer at your premises then project will become be a loss for me - I think budget is bit tight.
But if you can send me further details of the projects then I can see exactly if we can deliver in within your budget and timeframe. Thanks

Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
