Title:Information storage - Programme requirued
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
Hi,
I produce speed figures for the UK horse racing on aw tracks, I collect the data on a daily basis and put it on a spread sheet, I then need to collect the next day's horses and add this to a spread sheet with all the info added from the last three races each horses has run,
the data is all stored on a spread sheet in open office org.
I need a programme which stores the info in a proper database and then the add on for today's racing with the selected info from my database.

G. L. on 25/01/2010 11:20Hi
Very interested in bidding. Would this be ok as an Access database ? What functionality would you require ? For example do you want to search the data ? Any reports ?
Thanks
Graham

S. G. on 25/01/2010 12:36What issues are you having with the spreadsheet? Is it just getting too big and needing a better form of input? Would it need to be portable?
C. T. on 25/01/2010 12:43Dear Sir/Madam,
Before I bid for this project I have some questions.
Are you looking for an application to update the database from your spreadsheet or to collect the information for you and then update the database?
The reason I ask is because for an application to collect the data directly from whichever website you use will be far more complicated than reading data from a spreadsheet.
Also can you tell me which database software you intend to use for this?
Kind Regards
Chris Thornton
M. G. on 25/01/2010 13:14hello
as it stands i have to collect the data and do some calculations before i copy and paste the info into a spread sheet, as it stands i dont have a database software and would buy this once advice is given as i am pretty clueless
its around 150 data entrys a day and the spreadsheet is at 5000 entrys so its getting big already
once the spread sheet is updated i can use the forms in access if need as this is more than sufficient for what i need, one form for the speed figure, one form returns the official rating and one form returns (another figure)
as it stands i have to search manual and this takes ages
N. B. on 26/01/2010 08:16I am quite interested in this project but would request some more information. How many fields are there to each entry, and what sort of queries you will need to make, if you have identified the later? I would probably look at an approach based on your existing Open Office structure, making use of the Open Office database, or one of the open source databases that has Open Office integration. Would such an approach be acceptable to you? Is there any possibility of you putting up some sample data to look at?
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
