Title:Freelance CAD tech

Location:Remote

Job Description

Development work for a restoration engineer working from sketches and verbal ideas. A close relationship is essential as this is a new project using many innovative ideas for my industry. This project will involve 2d & 3d work with both mechanical engineering drawing skills and architectural skills. Because of the nature of this work I prefer not to enter into to much detail at this moment. Suffice to say that this is an exciting new and very exclusive small scale manufacturing project that will have a continuing portfolio. A suitable candidate can expect a progressive and continuing contract.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I really dont mind I have auto cad so I suppose that would be best but, While I understand engineering drawing I don't do cad so as long as i can review and generate the drawings in house and i can give sub contractors the necessary coppies it really dosn't mater much. I do not know if drawings etc developed in one package can be viewed and read or printed in a different package - i don't know if there is any 'industry standard' or not. Regards Pete

HI Matt and thanks you for your interest. Your skill set looks suitable but you are a little far away from me and your charges are above the top of my scale.
This is to be an ongoing project that, because of its nature, has a very restricted budget for the first stages. If this project is successful then the job will be ongoing on a yearly basis for further development of a complete model range that will update and expand on a continuing time line. I am looking for someone as close to me as possible. While I appreciate and am fully Oh - Fay with modern technology such as video conferencing etc, I am an old fashioned type of guy and like to sit down with a cup of coffee and shoot the breeze. I find this builds strong and very close teams that are incredibly powerful in what they do. This doesn’t rule you out and I will keep your details. Should I fail to find a suitable person closer to me then you and others that are the same distance away from me will be strongly considered? I hope you understand. Regards Pete

Hi Ben and thank you for your interest. You are a little too far away from me for this position. Because of the nature of this work I need to be able to sit down with the sucessful aplicant on a personal basiss from time to time. Your distance from me would make this impracticle. I hope you understand. Regards Pete

Hi Pete,

I am a structural draughtsman also with architectural experience. I am based in Tyneside. This sounds like an interesting project and I would certainly like to be involved. I use AutoCAD 2009. I have worked on restoration jobs before including the recommisioning of Cragside iron bridge in Northumberland. I am very flexible to new ideas and can give lump sum prices for each element of work.

Best Regards

Paul

Hi,

I plan to do that with SolidWorks.

Hi Pete,

I am extremely interested in your project and I feel we could work well together and develop the project further.

I am a CAD Technician with extensive experience of AutoCAD, working within Building Services and Automotive Engineering.

I have over 9 years experience working as a CAD Draughtsman using AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop and CAD-Duct (primarily 2d). In my previous role I detailed Mechanical Services (Domestic, Chilled Water, Heating and Medical Gas), Electrical Containment and Public Health on one of the biggest projects in Europe, which was the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

I have also worked within the Automotive Industry for a Jig & Tool company where I detailed large fabrications and components for manufacture. During this period at I completed a Technical Apprenticeship where I gained an ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

I feel that my AutoCAD skills and experience detailing mechanical drawings would be an asset in this role.

Thank you for your time. I hope to have the opportunity to discuss this position with you in the near future.

Kind Regards

Daniel Richards

Hi Pete,

This sounds like a very interesting project.

I have been involved with CAD and draughting work for many years working for some major companies across the UK. I run my own Ltd Company and as such I am always on the look out for interesting projects.

We are fully equipped with CAD workstations, both desktop and laptop, A0 colour plotter etc. Also, my wife and son are proficient in AutoCAD so if work requires the extra input, we are fully able to cope.

If necessary, we are more than happy to carry out surveys and assist the project in the best and most cost effective way in order to meet the requirements of the client.

I am more than happy to send you my CV and a copy of our Company Profile should I be suitable for you.

I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Regards,

Richard

Acceptance Reason: Richard Main is very well qualified for this job. And not just accademically.
His personable apearance, easy wit, relaxed personality and enthusiastic aproach to the many problems that development work such as this will bring shows that he is not only capable of carrying out the task in hand but is able to comit his own drawing and development office as a team player to another concern.
Good perceptive skills, an ability to envisage other peoples ideas, the ability, time and willingnes to learn an unfamiliar industry.
He is not only capable of becomming a major team player but welomes the oportuniyt to do so in such a way as to give all the benifits of a complete in house CAD office and development department without the complications and cost that this would bring to a small business such as ours.
