Title:Email hell - help to change email address and inform all Outlook contact -& be future proofed.
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I am a moderate experienced private user of Vaio, (Xp pro, downgraded from Vista!) Outlook 2003.
I have been using Bigfoot.com service (it forwards to up to 5 of my email addresses) for over 10 yrs as my main personal email name (yahoo as secondary).
Bigfoot is now v unreliable. I need to talk strategy / implementation of of replacement address system. I have my own unused domain (@myname.com) plus sundry yahoo and Gmail accounts and potential new biz emails.
should I have an exchange server ( I am not big on any more maintenance!!) or set up, say, a new Gmail acc and be done with it - for future proofing.
Also what is best way to inform a few hundred contact of my new address? Can one use 'plaxo' in reverse or use Outlook vcards?? or what? I have a dread of all this change and need help to be up beat about it!!
So, I need an experienced expert of Outlook 2003 and emails generally to hold my hand etc - using Skype- in a time zone close to GMT ONLY
pls. ASAP

J. J. on 05/08/2009 14:41Hello!
I am a freelance web developer and graphivs designer, however I found myself very similar situation few months ago as you are now.
I was looking for reliable e-mail service that is easy to use, accessible from Outlook via POP3 or IMAP and web, iPhone etc.
I found Google Apps to be the best solution for me. Google Apps is service provided by Google.
There are 2 options - corporate account and free account for personal use - you can use yourdomainame.com and upto 25 e-mail accounts, 25 GB disk space, forwarding and all other features similar to Gmail account. So basicly it's a Gmail account for business user.
I would like to bid on this project but unfortunately you accept bids only from UK:
B. D. on 05/08/2009 14:52Apologise - I meant to open up the location from UK only -
to 'all close to GMT' so we can Skype in normal UK office hours. Even so UK is my preference
J. J. on 05/08/2009 14:55I am from Estonia GMT +2
K. Q. on 05/08/2009 17:22Hi,
Having had a similar problem I found and purchased an Exchange account from a company. It supports all mail clients and mobile/web access too. Costs about 120GBP per year.
Very helpful and approachable people and allows use of own domain too.
I would bid for this (UK based) but I can't bid "0' for anything as this is less than an hours chat.
Hope you get a reasonable solution, for a reasonable price...good luck!
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
