Title:Copywriter - Property Website - Immediate start - Full revamp
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
I've committed to giving my not so good website a full revamp. I've signed up a web designer, but I know content is king so I need a copywriter.
Very simply the copywriter will be 100% responsible for crafting the content on the new website so that it:
1) Follows the AIDA (attention, interest, desire, action) principle
2) Clearly explains what we do
3) Is simple and very clean
You'll of course be working closely with the web designer.
Here are two websites, in my exact industry, that I like:
http://www.homebuyerman.co.uk/
http://www.a-quick-sale.co.uk/
Notes:
1) The copywriter will only be responsible for the written words (and possibly images). The web designer will do the rest.
2) The purpose of the website is to get the user to ring us if they need to sell their house quickly. We target homeowners with debt, structural problems, work problems or legal problems.
3) I want the copywriter to have a bit of out the box thinking and suggest a few concepts such as free property valuation reports that they think will entice a user into contacting us.
4) You can suggest what ever page layout that you think will suit.
5) The new site will be HTML not flash based. So a normal website.

C. S. on 05/08/2010 10:33Hi A C
Not sure how 19 people have bid without knowing how much work is involved!
I know the structure is pretty flexible, but can you give me an idea of anything you have in mind? Approx 6 pages of 300 wordsish or 20 pages of 500 words?
Anything that can guide towards making a sensible bid would be helpful.
Many thanks
Claire

A. C. on 05/08/2010 14:08Claire,I agree. I did post the website address in my original post, but the site regulators removed it (I've only just realised). At it stands the website more like www.a-quick-sale.co.uk as oppose to www.nationalhomebuyers.co.uk in terms of number of pages.
After a quick count there are around 15 pages. But I'd say only around 8-10 of them have any real content with the average word count per page to be around 100 words per page (for those 8-10 pages).
The actual website is www.rapidcompletion.co.uk - i suspect they'll remove this but if not then feel free to take a look.
J. M. on 05/08/2010 11:55Hello A.C. A few quetions:
1) How do you intend to brief this job? Will you provide a list of 'mandatories' that you wish to have included...tell the writer what you wish to retain and lose on the site..etc etc. The tighter the brief, the better.
2) Will the writer be able to work with the web designer in person? (I am new to PPHour, so maybe this is a nonstarter.) Work goes faster and is ultimately better if one can work in tandem with one's creative partner.
3) Should the fee include one set of revisions, more, or none?
Thanks for clarification.

A. C. on 05/08/2010 14:14Jennifer,
Thanks for the questions. Maybe you should bid on more structured projects to get used to the format. I've had a lot of bids so I'd probably take a seasoned user.
Best of luck.
Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
