Title:Convert my static website to a Wordpress site

Location:Anywhere

Job Description

Specific skills:
-SEO
-website programming
-Wordpress content management systems.
-Good English (UK preferred)

I am the manager of a popular Scottish wedding band. We are well established and our website ranks well in google for our key terms.

I wish to have more control over the content of the site by porting it to a wordpress content management system. This will require hosting on a server which supports Wordpress. It is vital that anyone applying for this has experience with SEO, and understands the risks and complications involved in moving the website of a business which depends on high search-engine rankings.

I've very interested in helping transfer your site over and I'm fully aware of the issues surrounding transferring a site and maintaining search engine rank.

Is it possible to get a link to the current site so that I can give a more accurate bid on what is required?

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan, thanks for your interest. The website is www.thejiggers.co.ukFor your information, I also have a separate blog at www.ceilidhblog,typepad.com but want to start a new blog integrated as a part of the new site. I don't know whether I can import content from the old blog or not, but it's there FYI anyway!

The website is www.thejiggers.co.uk

What I'm envisaging is the website with effectively the same textual content and branding as the original, but I am able to update the content myself without using HTML and whatnot. The SEO considerations are paramount. I don't mind if it's not Wordpress, though because of it's widespread use I'm veering towards it over less well-known site builders. But I'm open to suggestions.

Key issues I would say are probably things like the contact form that we currently use. Regarding the music, gallery and video implementation, I'd be happy to switch to whatever widgets made that easier.

I'd be planning to add to the content of the website regularly in order to develop as an authority on all my keywords, so a blog and resources page would be getting regular updates. My current blog is hosted at www.ceilidhblog,typepad.com

I've also got a newsletter that goes out to over 1000 subscribers, and if there was a clever way of connecting that up to my website, then more's the better.

Once I'd got the site for the Jiggers working well, I'd be looking at developing another site www.bigdaymusic.net, but that's the next project!

I'd be hoping that the new website would look a bit slicker as well, and am happy to take suggestions about graphical/layout considerations obviously. It doesn't have to look identical to the current site, but I don't want it to look completely different either, because we have brand recognition to think about.

Hi Greg,

If you just want a blog go for wordpress. If want a true content management system then look at Joomla!

Front page, articles, blog, integrated newsletter, music downloads, video you name it.

Do I need to go on?

I will only bid on this job if a deep fried mars bar is thrown in...

Regards

Joe

Hey thanks Joe. I'll make sure and order an extra one at dinner time :)

I will have a look at Joomla, thanks for the heads up.

Hi Greg
I'm interested in your project. I have a quick question about the mailing list before I submit a bid.
Do you currently use a mailing list provider to manage your mailing list or do you send the emails out manually using something like an Outlook mail merge?

Thanks
Barney

Hi Barney I currently use campaign monitor to handle my emailing, but I import new addresses manually.
