Title:Convert a MS Access Database for use on a MSSql Database
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
This may seem a simple request but I have recently transferred a customers website to my hosting. The original website was constructed using a MS Access database. My hosting platform does not support this and it therefore needs to be converted.
I have tried converting this myself and without too much database prior knowledge have hit a stumbling block.
I am sure to the right candidate this will be a simple job and should not take too long. Although please correct me on this as I am not 100% on doing this myself.
I would need the successful freelancer to convert the database and assist me in making sure that the original website functionality is preserved 100%, including login etc.
Please feel free to ask any questions and if the budget is way off let me know.

J. R. on 16/06/2011 18:17Christopher,
How many tables are there and how many rows are there in each table ?
Can you post the table definitions ?
What is the total capacity (Mb or Gb) required for the d.b. ?
Unless the structure is very simple, your budget appears somewhat low.

C. W. on 16/06/2011 18:32Hi there are 8 tables with varying levels of rows. The most complex of these has information on products for the site. All of the others basically contain login information and few lines.
I am not 100% sure on what the table definitions are but I am assuming you mean their names. These are 'discounts' 'fabric colours' 'fabrics' ' loginlog' 'ranges' 'ssImages' 'stockists' 'tradelogins'
The access database file is 435kb.
I hope that makes sense but please feel free to ask any further questions.
D. B. on 16/06/2011 22:24Good evening,
I have experience in bith database platforms having recently done a similar operation for another client on here. Can you tell me what the site is done in? Is is classic asp or asp.net?
Kind regards

Here are some practical tips on staying safe
- Never pay any money to Clients and or provide sensitive details like your Bank information, Credit Card or Passwords
- Never accept a Job if you have been directed away from PeoplePerHour to another website
- Be cautious when providing your personal contact details (email, telephone number, instant message ID etc) before your Bid is accepted
- If you have been asked to send samples, put a watermark on them or send low resolution examples to avoid being exposed and not getting paid
- Don’t start work before your Bid is accepted and your Escrow deposit is made
- Keep your Escrow account topped up and ensure that you use the Private Message Board to track all pertinent details about the Job e.g. timelines, deliverables etc
- Before you supply final works to Clients, ensure you have adequate funds in Escrow
Remember: if something looks too good to be true, it probably is!
