Title:Block Advert Builder (DEMO)
Location:Anywhere
Job Description
The project requires a 'demonstration web site' for a newspaper block advert builder - the web application will allow input of a few lines of text, to then be partially formatted - in order to create a pdf which can be submitted to a newspaper as a block advert (see the example attached).
I have also attached a 'mockup' design which can be used as a basis for the web site design.
Note: This would be a demo and not the full version - which would include more font choices, colour and possibly graphic inclusion. Similar to a banner ad on a web site but with the output being a pdf.

C. R. on 01/10/2009 12:35Hi David,
Have you already got the PDF generation software in place and available? Will this remain a web application or used offline as a pc application also?
regards,
Chris
D. M. on 01/10/2009 13:32Christian,
No - for the demo a graphic to pdf online converter service could be used - since the output of these is often an email with an attachment. But the quality of these services would probably be too poor for a real system. As you probably know the customer receives their pdf proof from a newspaper/ad agency for approval before it is used in the newspaper copy.
The example ad provided gives the quality/size of pdf used for proofs by a newspaper.
The idea is the system is all online and easy to use. Newspapers are loosing out massively in the UK to online advertisers - one factor is a lack of an easy to use system and limited control over the ads appearance.
For the 'demo' version the provider would effectively be hosting it on their own server as well.
David.
A. P. on 02/10/2009 09:40Hi David,
I would like to place a bid on this project. I have seen the mockups and will be able to send you a link to an online version of the mockup uploaded and working on my server by the end of the day. Once you have seen that and accepted the bid, I could then add the conversion to pdf functionality and clean it up for you.
Since the bidding is restricted, you will need to invite me to bid. I'm based in London incase you wish to meet later.
Cheers,
Atif
A. P. on 02/10/2009 10:09Hi David,
I just noticed an error with the PPH website. Since, I also posted a project once, the system now treats me like a buyer which means that you are not able to link to my provider account via the posting. If you are interested in inviting me to bid, you will need to search 'Atif Paracha' in the Find Freelancers.
Cheers,
Atif Paracha
