Title:Article Writer

Location:Anywhere

Job Description

I\'m looking to build a network of good freelance writers to fulfill regular assignments. Writers with a journalistic background would be ideal as the articles need to be interesting and creative.

With this in mind I\'m asking for 1 article of about 450-500 words. I\'ll provide the topic and it is up to you to decide on the title/content. If accepted and the finished article is of suitable quality there will be more regular work.

The article will also need to include relevant keywords (which will be supplied).

I\'m estimating a good writer can knock this out in an hour, but please let me know if this is a bit optimistic.

Hi

What level of keyword density are you expecting?

Thanks

Julie

Not too bothered about keyword density. As long as the article is of good quality and is unique, mentions the keywords we need (and is relevant to the keywords) then I'm happy.

Hello,

I am a freelance writer and I'd be glad to work with you. How many articles would you need to get per week/month?

Thank you.

That really depends on the quality and price of the article. We currently produce between 40 to 100 articles per month for various clients / sites. We use freelancers for all articles.
S. G.S. G. on 18/03/2011 23:14
Ok...would you give me an idea of a topic I would need to write about? And how much do you usually pay for, let's say, a 500 - words article?
S. C.S. C. on 19/03/2011 09:07
Not meaning to be rude, but a good freelance in the UK should be earning about £50 per hour, not £15! I regularly write pieces for the MSM of about 600 words, for which I notmally get £200 or thereabouts, and they take me about an hour to write. So I don't think you're aiming at the top of the tree here.

So that is £200 per hour then?

Look, not being funny but if you aren't interested in the job then just don't apply.

Hi,
This sounds like my sort of thing, but before I bid, one question:
Would you consider a bid from someone not based in the UK?
I'm a UK citizen and English is my first language, but I'm in Spain at the moment. In my experience, this could work perfectly fine via email and phone but it's your call.

Cheers,
Dave

That would probably be fine.
S. C.S. C. on 19/03/2011 12:35
Yes, it is. I'm just making the point that if you pay peanuts ......................................

Seriously. Just don't apply for a job if you're not happy with the payment on offer. I've worked in this industry for a long long time and there are a lot of extremely good writers out there willing to work for £15 per hour (see the host of applications already received).

The whole idea is that I asked for quotes. As you can see, some have quoted more than the suggested amount but I'll take them all into account.

I find your comments a bit insulting to the other applicants if I'm honest with you - so I think it's best if we both move on from this....

Hi Neil

Agree with SC on this one. If a solicitor charges £150 an hour and they need come extra cash (if they can take their hands out of their clients' pockets for long enough that is - but you know what I mean), they won't 'do it' here for £20 an hour.

Best wishes
Ed

Hi Ed,

Your are entitled to your opinion and I understand totally that you put a certain value what you do. However, I've pretty much said what I had to say on this. See my last response below.

Regards

Neil

Neil, what you don't seem to understand is that this site is used by professional free-lancers.True, no-one needs to apply if they think the fee or conditions unworkable. But posted jobs like this one drag down the standard. This is why people get upset . And, to take a cue from your own reply, if you don't like it you can always try elsewhere.

Hi Neil

I have been writing professionally for 10 years and am a published novelist with editorial training. I do not think your rate is insulting at all and in fact the only time I have ever known a writer to earn anything like £200 for 600 words was when I worked as an intern at The Independent under two of their lead columnists (they earned, it is reputed, about £1,000 per article, although the articles were often in excess of 2,000 words).

I do not doubt the veracity of S.C's statement but if s/he is earning £200 per hour - i.e., well over 30 times the UK minimum wage - then what on earth is s/he doing on a site like this, where the average client offers a rate at or below minimum wage? You are right, it is insulting to the vast majority of writers who struggle to get consistent work and enough of it to reach the heady heights of the UK tax threshold!

I'll be placing a bid Neil, although it will be at the upper end of your budget scale.... hope to hear from you!

Hi Neil,

Would you consider a bid from a UK citizen living outside of the country?

I am a freelance travel/article writer currently based in Buenos Aires and would be interested in finding out more about the articles you require and sending you a sample.

Many thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,

Sorry - I'd prefer to only work with people in the UK. Makes life a whole lot easier (from past experience).

Thanks for the message though. Enjoy your travels (lucky man!).
