About Me
I began my design career back in 2001 as an entry-level designer at a reputable mobile phone games development company in London. For the two years of my employment I was learning about the industry, how to deal with clients and what makes good work become great. The clients I worked with include high profile brands such as Nokia, Vodafone and Samsung. Even though this was the perfect start for any interactive designer, by the end of 2003 I wished to pursue a fresh role with a vaster diversity of work.
My determination to advance as a designer helped me gain a position at an energetic digital agency in the city of Sheffield. With my new role came the chance to work on impressive website, print and branding contracts for many illustrious brands both in the UK and aboard. Over the next three years I continued to hone my skills and enhance my techniques.
In 2006 I felt it was time to experience more of what life has to offer outside the studio. I packed my bag with sketchbooks and pens and set sail to explore the world. After many months travelling I eventually arrived in a place called OZ, where I commenced working as an Design Consultant for a retail consultancy.
The time spent travelling was a great source of creative inspiration and helped me grow as both a man and a designer. Upon returning to the UK in 2008 I knew I wanted to try something new and re-assess myself as a designer. Growing up as a self-taught designer I had never previously considered the option of attending University to acquire a degree in the Arts. After checking many courses throughout the UK I applied and was accepted on the University of Lincoln's Interactive Design BA (hon's) degree course. I chose this course as I felt the teachings of other design professionals would help me break down my skills and knowledge, then slowly we could asses and rebuild them to be more effective.
While completing the first 2 years of my degree I Worked freelance for many agencies in the Lincolnshire area. In my third year I gained an opportunity to work at a high profile design studio in London. After careful deliberation I chose to accept the position and work full-time while also attaining a bachelor of the arts degree. Working in London I was fortunate to collaborate on design briefs for established clients such as Topman, Channel 4, Knight Frank and Grey Goose Vodka.
After I completed my degree in May 2011 I had to make a choice whether to continue my career in London or to do something I have always wanted to do, start my own design studio. I made the decision to work freelance under the name PUSHDOTPLAY. Using the knowledge and experience I had gained throughout my career in the industry I believed I could produce exciting and fun work, while offering high quality services to my clients.
