Whilst studying in Japan, I assisted in filming a documentary, showing the unique blend of Buddhism and Shintoism on a holy prayer mountain where I lived for 5 months. This site was unique, as it was the only place in Japan that had an obscure mix of both religious ceremonies. The documentary was to show how these two alternative religions have a similar religious notion of prayers for the dead.
During my second year of university, I had the opportunity to travel to Japan and study Japanese cinema, history and language. During my stay I taught English to a class of 15 Japanese students aged 18-25.
Whilst working as an Activity Leader, the chance arose to travel to Italy for two weeks and teach English to a class of 10.
Working for the ‘East Sussex Medical Services’, I drove an ambulance to large events and assisted in on-site first aid. I had to have extensive training including paediatric first aid and basic life support. I believe this experience trained me to act with instinct and logistics.
