Lee has been great throughout the project, even though the goal posts kept moving. He was more than happy to make changes and amendments when required. At all time Lee was enthusiastic and was happy to discuss things that were outside the exact remit of the original job. His work was of very high quality and I would have no hesitation in using him again.
Objective
Gaining and developing a strong appropriate level of analytical, visualisation and presentational skills, I have enabled myself to identify a structural approach to design. I like performing well individually and within a team at problem solving. I also have transferable skills, such as using my own initiative to complete a task, self-motivation, and good time management due to my course being very demanding at the highest level.
Employment
Oct 2007 • BF Technology Ltd, Swindon, Wilts. Technical Sales/Mechanical Engineer
Following the finish of my university course, I have been working for BF Technology Ltd part of the GDS Group, designers of intelligent display systems. Responsibilities within the company include; design and development of new products from concept to production, material selection, manufacturing process selection for polymers, metals, and other materials such as Corian, thermal and stress analysis of displays, electronic & electrical design, computer engineering, technical issues raised via the sales team, project management, technical authoring, and graphic design. Gaining Electronic and electrical knowledge has enabled me to improve my general knowledge when providing conceptual and detailed designs, and allowed me to interact with clients with increased confidence. I have been employed with BFT since the completion of my Computer Aided Product Design (CAPD) degree from Bournemouth University (BU).
Skills Developed • Initiative, versatility, and project management.
Feb 2008 • Consultancy Work • CAD Design Engineer
During the economic downturn, BF Technology reduced employees to 4-day weeks; during this time, I sourced external contractual designing to support myself. Experience in various markets and skills gained through my education have enabled me with the necessary tools required to accept and complete various projects outside my current work with BF Technology, thus increasing my knowledge and skill set once more to compliment my position with BFT. I have specifically enjoyed the independent and self motivated role, and found I have a passion for commercialisation.
Skills Developed • Responsibilities, time management, and confidence.
June 2005 • August 2006 - Microlights Ltd, Marlborough, Wilts. CAD Lighting Engineer
As part of Bournemouth’s CAPD course a compulsory requisite was a third year placement within a related discipline. Responsibilities included; 3D CAD part & assembly modelling, product designing and engineering, establishing sources of standard & manufactured components, sample build and 1st off production runs. A placement with Microlights enabled the completion of skills required to become a full product designer, through a combination of skills ascertained in university and putting these skills to practice with Microlights. This placement also provided a great understanding of the theory of lighting and market perception on lighting requirements.
Skills Developed • Enthusiasm, Communication, Correct balance of independent and team working.
June 2004 Outsource-UK, Swindon, Wilts. IT Consultant/Developer
In the summer break from BU I was requested to design a database for a local IT recruitment agency, work was completed under the board of directors as a designer of user-friendly system for automatic tasking. As a contractor, I had full project management, this included planning, organising, and production of an intensive program, based in Excel, incorporating advanced Visual Basic to produce all functions. It maintains all the current contractors and permanent clients, has a history of past employees, and runs certain procedures on start up that keeps the system maintained automatically.
Skills Developed • Producing, Planning, Researching, Promoting, and Reviewing.
Oct 2003 • May 2004 Insurance Advisory Services, Poole, Dorset. Sales Advisor
During my first year of university, I held a part time evening position with IAS a buildings and contents insurance provider. This enabled me to ascertain a great understanding of how to attend and approach different customers, working under pressure, and trying to maintain the quality required by co-operating with GISC. In order to obtain employment a pass of an intensive 6-week course was compulsory, including the company in depth, processes, history, systems, and Underwriting processes. Example calling was performed to new employees learning the process. The most rewarding part was learning and performing the selling techniques. Maintaining quality required self-motivation, sound judgement, and high energy, which all worked really well in achieving sales.
Skills Developed • Negotiating, persuading, identifying, listening, and evaluating.
Further employment includes:
Aug 02 • Jan 03 Tyco Electronics, Swindon, Wilts. Engineer Assistant
