Centrica PLC:
I am currently Project Managing a Power optimisation tool for the trading area of Centrica PLC. With this tool I have taken it from an initial phase through an improvement face and now am managing a stochastics enhancement and upgrade. One of my responsibilites is to manage the developers and relate the technical information back to the business in meaningful language.

My third placement as an IS Security Analyst. This involves mitigating the risk of the unauthorised use of certain applications and conducting reviews to ensure that there are no security risks. I am also heavily involved with testing websites and networks to ensure that they are secure and that the risk of unauthorised access is reduced. I was Project Managing an Identity Management Solution we had in place which required production status reports, business plans and business cases. I produced a new dashboard for the Security Office for senior and executive stakeholders.

My second placement was with IT Asset Management, this was a very challenging customer facing role as I was constantly engaged with 3rd party suppliers and Software vendors. I was responsible for maintaining Centrica’s Hardware and Software Assets, by ensuring no maintenance renewals were overdue and ensuring the License database was correct and up-to-date. I was engaged with staff at all levels of the organisation, including legal and commercial teams. I was acting as a Licensing Compliance consultant to the whole organisation, including the environmental and security aspects of IT.

My first placement was with British Gas Residential Energy team, maintaining Jupiter Process Maps. I was required to check any map updates made to the architecture and ensure they meet Jupiter Standards and Conventions, including cosmetic adherence, process flows and map functionality. I have been extensively involved in Impact Assessing projects on the Change Plan, including SPIRE, Project Online and Jupiter Stabilisation.


Kingston University:
I worked for Kingston University on the Helpdesk as 1st / 2nd line support for students during out of office hours. I was expected to provide general assistance regarding software issues, hardware issues and network issues.

I was also involved with uploading E-Learning material from PDF files onto the Kinston University Website. The E-Learning portal was developed using PHP and MySQL within our team of developers.


ReportLab Europe Ltd:
I gained invaluable experience at ReportLab where I produced code to generate PDF documents for blue chip companies and financial institutions such as Fidelity, Charles Stanley, Hewlett Packard and Scottish Widows. I was involved in giving on-site demos to our customers to market ReportLab’s products. I produced extensive marketing literature, hosted on the ReportLab website. I was involved in testing all of our web applications using iOpus and developing these test scripts to ensure complete testing before these WebApps are shipped off to our customers.

I worked on and maintained ReportLab’s software such as RML2PDF, PageCatcher and Diagra, and I was in charge of executing fixes to the code and shipping this to our customers to meet live release deadlines. I was the first line of customer support and ensured that all their queries and needs were answered. I also provided administrative support to the other software developers.

The language I used during this contract includes: HTML, XML, DHTML, Java, JavaScript & Python.


Electronic Data Systems (EDS):
I was involved in BA Engineering’s IMAX rollout, where I upgraded Windows 95 machines to Windows 2000. I was in charge of gathering vital software information from the old machines in preparation for the upgrade. I co-ordinated analysis and upgrade sessions and was in regular contact with managers at the various BA sites. Once the upgrades were completed, I trained BA staff on their new Windows machines and provided support on various fronts.
