About Me
I can offer a variety of services including transcription, editing, proofreading, writing and re-writing copy, document formatting, research, and secretarial and administrative work.
I have over 15 years experience of working in an academic library, principally as a project archivist and research assistant. My background is in the arts and humanities, but I have also turned my hand to administrative roles within a medical faculty. I am a competent transcriptionist (dictation, voice memos, interviews, focus groups), a good typist (70+ words per minute), have strong proofreading and editing skills, and am confident using MS Office applications. I like to get things right and am very conscientious when it comes to presenting both facts and text accurately.
I work freelance from my home in West Yorkshire, and can offer a friendly, efficient and high quality service. I am happy to take on both small and long term projects, and value the opportunity to build longer term working relationships with my clients.

A joy to work with. My complicated formatting guidelines were followed, and the deadlines respected. I would certainly work with this freelancer again.

Excellent service. The transcript was perfect and the timing, well the job was done earlier than expected. Speechless and very happy. Thanks
Work Experience
I am an efficient and accurate audio transcriptionist, and provide this service to two private clients on a regular basis. I have recently edited/rewritten several e-books on varying subjects and am involved in two ongoing editing projects (a collected edition of the poems of a 20th century British poet and a technical manual). I have worked extensively with archival collections held by a prominent university library, combining the roles of archivist and researcher. My experience chiefly relates to work within the arts and humanities field, most recently working with 20th century poetry archives, and includes assessing and sorting archives (ms and typescript papers, photographs, audio recordings), liaison with archive creators and executors, cataloguing for the web (XML-based) and managing online catalogues, creating user guides and promotional literature, researching and writing web content, organising and participating in conferences and information sessions with various user groups, and dealing with enquiries. I have also held roles requiring administrative and managerial skills in an altogether different environment (medical education), have temped, and have experience of working as part of editorial teams compiling directories and bibliographies.
