About Me

Professional copywriter who has been providing content for magazines, websites ad promotional materials for over five years. I have specialized, in the past few years, in child healthcare editing and writing a research monthly bulletin for the NHS.

I have also been freelancing as a features writer, and have been published in magazines aimed at Independent Financial advisors on a diverse range of subjects (hedge funds, precipice bonds etc.)

I offer professional copy writing for a range of needs, especially if you require technical material translated into everyday language, a skill that I have gained over the last five years.

Work Experience

After University, having studied Law, I began my career working at the Market Research Society. At was at this point that it was suggested that I might try my hand at features writing. Since then I have been writing for the past six years professionally, publishing my first feature in 2004 in European Fund Focus.

I have edited and provided the bulk of the content for the R&D Bulletin, detailing cutting edge medical research. As a Communications Officer I also provided promotional material, content for both our intranet and internet sites. I was also a member of the editorial board, and provided content for the internal staff magazine.

Jul 2005 to Dec 2010
Communications Officer at UCL Institute of Child Health

Responsible for the R&D Bulletin, a monthly magazine detailing new research, techniques and fundraising activities for the Institute and Hospital: editorial, content, design and organising distribution throughout the hospital and to universities/hospitals across the United Kingdom. Also maintain R&D Bulletin intranet site and the presence of the Bulletin on the ICH/GOSH external web site. Member of editorial board for staff/patient publication: Roundabout.

Drafting and amending legal documents with the Industrial Liaison Officer to facilitate collaborations between academic sites and commercial partners and protect intellectual property rights arising from research; Confidentiality agreements, Material Transfer Agreements etc.

Education

I began my studies at the University of East London where I studied Communication Studies and Politics gaining a 2i bachelor of arts degree. During this period as part of my politics course I took some Law courses and this ultimately led to my studying Law at the College of Law and completing my Bar Vocational Course at the Bristol Faculty of Law.

Once I began features writing on a freelance basis I also took and passed a diploma in Press Journalism at City University in London.
