About Me

I have over 25 years of experience in the communications, advertising, graphic design and public relations fields. English is my first language, at which I am exceptionally proficient and have a natural talent for writing. I love research, especially surveys (including secret shopper, customer, guest - the latter being the hospitality trade - and so on). Apart from communications [Link Removed]. writing, editing and proofing, I work with Adobe CS and can do design and layout to pre-print. I understand the concept of deadlines and meeting them. I am also creative and have a lot of my own original ideas, which I am willing to share. I am self-motivated, driven and task orientated. Additionally, I have a good eye for detail and accuracy and am a very fast typist (average of 112 [Link Removed].) I recently worked for the largest diversified mining companies in the world, but have opted out of the corporate race to focus on freelancing and finding the time to enjoy the coffee and smell the roses!

On the PR front, I am a peoples' person, outgoing and do not have a problem talking to strangers. I have held various positions in this regard, the latest being PR Manager, followed by starting my own PR and Communications company.

Whilst having recently traded my mining bosses to be a freelancer, I still recognise that my client is THE Boss and as such, will meet deliverables to the best of my professional abilities and think laterally as and when challenges arise to derail timeframes. Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men are never cast in concrete - especially in the PR and communications game!

I commissioned Heather to write three training manuals for my company. The manuals averaged 150 pages each. She had to research the content, write and proof, make edits and changes, as requested, and design each manual. She was also required to source all applicable photos, graphics, charts and visual material for the manuals. Once I had approved the final draft, Heather had to liaise with the reproduction and printing houses and oversee the production and delivery of the printed manuals. I found Heather to be professional, thorough and she has an excellent eye for detail and accuracy. She met the demanding deadlines, which involved her having to work long hours to do so, and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I would certainly continue to use her services in the future and have no hesitation in recommending her to any one.
