About Me
Hi, my name is Gio and have been working professionally as a digital artist for over 8 years for clients such as News International Newspapers Ltd creating illustrations for The Sun Newspaper and The News of The World.
During that time I also worked on two 3D comics, Striker and The Premier which where daily 3D comics which involved the creation and depiction of realistic human characters which has given me a great deal of experience in depicting the human form and to the strict and unforgiving daily deadlines of a newspaper.
I recently launched a webcomicgraphic novel called The Talos Project ([Link Removed]) which is the latest example of my work in creating digital human characters and environments. All artwork, the story and the website itself were created by myself.
I have just completed modeling work on [Link Removed]-is-[Link Removed] for Theory7, Microsoft and Ford to promote the new fiesta and I'm now looking for my next project.
I'm able to complete projects from the initial concept ideas through to creating all art assets 3D or 2D and any photography needed, to final images. I use industry standard software such as Maya 2008, Mental Ray, Shave and a Haircut, Zbrush, Photoshop.

Company: Theory 7
Location: Maidstone
Project Title: Microsoft/Ford Project (www.this-is-now.co.uk)
Position: 3D Modeller/ Concept Artist
I was approached by Theory7 to become part of their team on a contract basis to help create a virtual city to be used on a Microsoft backed web special to promote the New Ford Fiesta.
The website involves a 3D Fiesta driving through a virtual city and then reaches a signpost and from there you can choose to navigate to 6 other areas of the city dedicated to different sections of the site from an Open Cinema to Fashion (Selfridges). Many other companies where involved in this lifestyle oriented advert and I was responsible for modeling and texturing of all the high detailed areas you can visit from the signpost including the signpost itself and surrounding area also. In addition I also built some of the skyscrapers and a few boats.

Project Title: The Talos Project • Launch (www.thetalosproject.com)
Position: Freelance
During this period I took some time off to develop a personal project, a graphic novel and webcomic called The Talos Project (www.thetalosproject.com)

I was given the opportunity to be part of a 4-man team to create a new 3D comic strip called The Premier for The Sun Newspaper and then The Sun Online website. In this role my responsibilities included being involved in story decisions, story-boarding, modeling, texturing, rigging, shading, lighting of both characters and environments and then the posing of characters, shot set-up and rendering of the strip and then any retouching that was need, post-production work and the writing of the final dialog and uploading to the website. This process would usually take between 1 and 2 days per strip (usually around 6-7 panel strip every 1 or 2 days to keep ahead).

Company: Striker3D Ltd
Location: London, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge.
Project Title: Striker
Position: Digital Artist
I started full-time at Striker3D Ltd just after my 20th birthday. My responsibilities there were to create the artwork as part of a small team for the Striker comic strip featured in The Sun Newspaper. During the three years there I learnt to model, uv, texture, shade and light both environments and characters to a very demanding daily deadline.
During the first year there we used Lightwave 5.6, for which I got some basic training. In the second year there we switched to Maya to make use of better character based tools it offered in particular we liked artisan. This was not an easy switch as we had to set-up all our assets and learn and get the next weeks strips done immediately as we still had to produce 6 strips a weeks all year round no matter what. We moved offices a few times the last of which was to Tonbridge as we left The Sun to create an independent weekly Striker comic.
