APEX Building Contractors LTD � Office Administrator
2007 Began to work for APEX taking over from the previous company Secretary. APEX Building contractors is a Limited Company that deals with Clients including Local Area Authorities, Councils such as Cheshire County Council and Halton Borough Council, and some North West UK surveying houses tendering for works involving Primary School refurbishment and general structural and building services.
Taught how filing system works and how to keep it up to date how to create legally binding documents such as sales invoice using the stored library of APEX correspondence, how to deal with filing purchase, sales invoices recording every transactions into the day book and then transferring the information onto the second set of electronic accounts using Excel workbooks and sheets.
Learned how to operate Payroll using IRIS Wages Program. Recording Employees hours and location to hours sheets each week and transferring the information onto Iris to calculate the amount to be paid, the tax and national insurance contributions and making and recording the BACS payments onto daybook and computer record. Producing weekly and monthly wage sheets using Iris, inputting the wage sheet information into the Excel calculation system for finding the amount of tax and Ni to be paid to the for that certain month. Holiday Sick pay ect. Calculating payments to the Inland Revenue using MS Excel offsetting the PAYE amount with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) subcontractors payment system deductions made or suffered.
Created a Microsoft excel system that could use the existing purchase and sales ledger, Invoices recorded onto computer with Microsoft Excel, and use Excel functions and VBA programming to create a monthly purchase and sales account ledgers that could be updated with payments and have reconciled accounts set up. This would remove the need for someone skilled in the use of a program such as SAGE accounting to have a Debtors or Creditors list for monthly payment credit and debit accounts. I have increased efficiency with this simple system with the use of bespoke user forms for invoice and payment data entry and macros that can repeat monotonous tasks calculating account balances from invoices entered for up to 70 suppliers.
Performed monthly Bank Reconciliation. Calculated and paid any PAYE or VAT due on quarterly activity with the use of Microsoft Excel also.
Project management timescale design complete with various tasks to be performed by each respective trades men to reach final project specifications. Stages of build include demolition if necessary; ground work, floor laying, joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrics, finishing etc. Materials quantity and labour cost predictions are made and project timeline is created to effectively manage staff. Worked as a unskilled labourer on building sites learning various construction skills. Spent time as joiner�s, plasterer�s mate, preparing materials and providing men with the assistance required to keep them working. Through this I have learned the value of team work, recognising that if people didn�t help each another progress would be slow. Proficient decorator.

Working as a shop assisstant serving customers with icecream, cards ect. Ringing in till and giving change. [Link Removed] Duties and maintainance.

The Royal Hotel Waterloo - Kitchen Porter, Bar man

Spent time as a Kitchen Porter and barman. Washing dishes for very long shifts required patience. Team work is a requirement when working, and the value of responsibility, good communication ensures the work is done correctly. Has also worked behind the bar serving customers.

Workshop Technician � John Moores University

Taking part in various tasks in a fabrication workshop, including using a lathe, a mill and also tower drills. Use brazing and annealing techniques used to increase the hardness of metals. Had some welding experience, and use of a tensile test machine to break a weld and measure the yield strength. Created a 3D model and machined from material with CADCAM. My time in work experience influenced my decision to apply for an engineering degree course.
