Work Experience
Virgin Media
Copywriter: December 2007 to June 2010
At Virgin it\'s about doing things differently. So that means shaking up the traditional customer-company relationship. Within the in-house studio, I was responsible for producing a huge variety of copy, always delivered in the distinctive, cheeky Virgin tone of voice. A typical day in the life could include concept development, web copy, DM, POS, product naming, editorial, creative brainstorming, coaching other teams and agencies in the Virgin tone of voice, the odd tweet... all sorts of stuff!
Johnlewis.com
Content Producer: June December 2007
Online and customer marketing writer for interiors, beauty and fashion. Most of my work here involved producing punchy, informative copy in the knowing John Lewis style for johnlewis.com. Plus POS and other instore material for John Lewis branches. I also managed and wrote the (rather hefty) seasonal Home catalogue, working closely with our agency John Brown.
Woolworths
Online Copywriter: Freelance October 2006 to June 2007
Produced the company\'s first brand style and tone of voice guidelines. For the most part, online sales and product copy, covering everything from toys to TVs, kids\' clothes to chocolate!
Tonic Advertising
Account Executive/Copywriter: April to October 2006
My time at this boutique agency meant I was also able to get some solid, high profile writing experience under my belt, and experiment with different tones of voice. Clients included high-end travel company, Bales Worldwide, and Hotel Chocolat.
Habitat
Marketing Executive/Copywriter: June 2004 November 2005
Managing campaigns soon turned into stealing copy work from our agency. Here\'s where I got my first break into copywriting, wrote my first DM and website copy, saw my first advertorial in print. I\'m very lucky to have got such great chances at a first job.
Education
Graduated in Journalism from the London College of Printing (now London College of Communication) in 2004.
