About Me

I have been developing with web technologies for over 10 years and more recently mobile solutions.

I develop applications in a variety of technologies including Flash - Flex and HTML - JQuery - ASP NET MVC and PHP Yii, all of which utilise back-end database systems including SQL Server and mySQL.

Developing has become quicker and easier than it has ever been and I love taking advantage of modern techniques to really add value for clients.

I have a real interest in making software that is both usable and maintainable as nothing is worse than unhappy users.

Development can be either bespoke or based on turn-key solutions and is always completed in an agile way with client feedback taking a large role.

I will be very happy to provide you with examples of previous work and references from happy clients.

I look forward to working with you.

Cheers

Andy

Job Reviews on PPH

by Geoff N on 28 Mar 2012

EXCEPTIONAL WORK. From the start I knew Andy was thorough and professional. He's worked really hard to produce a great result, on time. Andy is also really passionate about creating a great product and has been very flexible to our requirements. I would always use his services again.

Work Experience

Head of development for large scale modular SCORM-based e-learning content projects using Flash and Director with webservices and websites using ASP.NET written in both VB.NET and C# and utilising SQL Server.

Freelancing creating web applications and websites.

Apr 2011 to Jun 2011
Freelancer Developer at Large eBay Retailer

An administration system for stock and warehousing.

The solution comprised of two ASP.NET MVC 3 applications utilising jQuery and one WPF application. One ASP application ran on mobile devices including iPhones.

Introduced source control into the client's workflow practises.

All applications communicated via services to a back-end written by the client.

It was a real pleasure working with the company as they had a detailed specification and clear idea about what they needed. Once system was tested a few revision were required.

Andy is great to work with and we will certainly be working with him again in future. He sets clear expectations of his timelines in advance, providing a very honest and accurately broken out quote, and exceeds them, producing a very high standard of work. On this project, Andy brought considerable front-end development expertise across a range of .Net technologies including WPF (using the MVVM pattern) and ASP.Net MVC, as well as WCF and WebServices. Most of the pages were asynchronous, using AJAX requests, to improve user experience, which is always Andy's top priority, and is very well received by our users. Our data and services layer use Entity Framework, and LINQ. Andy produced a layer of ViewModels to facilitate access between the UI and data models, so that we can re-use code on different clients in future. Highly recommended!
