About Me
Hello,
I am a self-employed graphic designer, based in Maidstone, Kent. I operate by offering my services as extra capacity to larger design consultants, advertising agencies and publishing houses. In tandem with this, I also offer my services to small to mid-sized companies directly.
Since gaining a degree in graphic design back in 1988, I have worked in the design industry for over 20 years, working for 3 design consultants in London and the South East in addition to 2 UK national newspapers, one of which I held the role of Graphic Editor.
I specialise in the design of corporate identities, brochures, books, magazines, newsletters, leaflets, mailers, exhibitions, banners, invitations, packaging... almost anything that is printed.
My aim is to always exceed the client's expectations by producing imaginative and innovative designs that answer the requirements of a brief. However, I am always careful to maintain a careful balance between creativity and commercial reality... essentially, successful design.
During the design process, I aim to build a great working relationship with the client, based on honest and open communication, ensuring all phases are completed smoothly, on time and within budget. Perhaps also having a bit of fun along the way.
Ideally, I would like to attract clients who are looking to develop a long-term working relationship rather than a one-off job. If this sounds like you, please allow me to quote on any potential project you may offer.
Best regards,
Andrew Hunter

Work Experience
I have over 20 years experience in the design business, covering many areas of design (Corporate identity, stationery, manuals, newspaper/newsletters, book/magazines, brochures, exhibitions, invitations, mailers, packaging, posters, print handling, copywriting, photography, web design, etc)
I held the position of Graphic Editor of the News of the World for many years where I was responsible for managing a graphic design team ensuring we met the extremely tight deadlines, week in, week out.
During my time at News International, I became a design consultant to assist in the design of The Daily Telegraph, a sister paper based in Sydney, Australia.
I have also worked for 3 design consultants in London and the South East, where I was responsible for managing the studio, designing and client liaison, from initial brief through to final delivery of a project and everything in between.
I am an innovative, passionate, self-motivated and versatile designer whilst being extremely reliable and cost effective.
I prefer to work independently from my studio based in Stockbridge, Hampshire, however, I can operate from a client's office/studio if necessary.
Early in 2010 I am relocating back to Maidstone, Kent.
I have a CV available upon request.

A 4-page fold-out graphic was designed for a publication on young children. Specifically aimed at children between the ages of 1 - 5 years old, the book informs the reader on how a child develops within those important years. eg Hand/eye coordination, bone growth, teeth development, growth hormones, body proportions, balance, etc.
All this information had to be incorporated into a 4-page fold-out graphic within the publication with accompanying illustrations created by the client.
My role here was to create an imaginative layout, interspersed with illustrations and copy, whilst retaining all the relevant information in an easy to read and understandable style.
