I am a retired UK solicitor and current IT and business dispute mediator and also founder and CEO of TheMediationRoom, UK leaders in the application of technology to the resolution of disputes. I am Vice President (Europe) for Modria, (www.modria.com) a Silicon Valley spin off company from eBay and PayPal who are the world's leaders in Online Dispute Resolution. I draft and licence IT related development contracts, SLAs, reseller agreements, website terms, e-commerce terms, privacy policies, dispute resolution policies, franchise agreements etc as well as shareholder agreements and provide legal and regulatory audits for website content. I act as compliance and legal manager on a consultancy basis for start-ups and growing businesses. I have developed a specialisiation in resolving shareholder /director disputes at my BoardroomResolve service and also run TheInternetOmbudsman.

I was the founder of Lawtel, the premier online case/statute updating service for UK lawyers and the author of QUILL, the first combined accounting and time recording package for solicitors.

I am a Fellow of the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution at the Department of Law of the University of Massachusetts. I was a member of the Working Party of the European Committee on Standardisation (CEN) that developed a taxonomy for Online Dispute Resolution and a member of EMCOD, an EU funded project to measure access to justice through online dispute resolution.

My work with The Mediation Room has included ODR projects undertaken in partnership with a number of organisations using our bespoke software including Her Majesty's Court Service in England, eBay and Paypal,the National Institutes of Health and the National Mediation Board of Washington (both US) , the Law Council of Australia, and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation.
