I am setting up my own business and am scheduled to go live in spetmebr 08.
I have an independant person already working on my webiste so it is just the database work i need doing.
The database is to hold doctors details and hospital details and is to alloow me to do various searches on the hopsital and doctors information. This would need to be highly secure as it will be holding confidential documents so should not be linked to the web.
I have a personal friend who can build me the database but is a bit worried that if anything went wrong he would not be able to assist as short notice.
I would need to get this started as soon as possible due to my deadline and feel that I would need a conversation with regards to the above whether this time period is realistic.

Hi, I have worked within the NHS as a consultant and contractor so I am familiar with Medical databases/security etc. I have seen the various messages about the attached file so I will be able to give you a clearer idea of cost when I look at the spec but I dont see it as a massive job. If you have not already you will need to address issues arising from the the Data Protection Act and storing of confidential information. Without the extra documentation I have put in an approximate bid which I may have to change but only if it seems a lot more complex than initially described

| Hello Louise, What kind of database you have in mind? Is it, SQL Server, My SQL, MS access something like those? Also do you need the complete database designing and data entering/ migration as part of it. Are you hosting it from separate servers(web and database). Also the mapping with your front end and any data manipulation, will they be covered by your frontend developer? If you can provide me with some of the above information, then I can give you reasonably acurate quote. No need to see the file initially as long as it can be opened with normal editors. | Hi Louise, some questions for you. What kind of interface do you envisage using to input data and query the database with? Will your web designer implement this interface or are you looking for a database schema and offline interface application. Who will install and commission your database (not the data but the database server and interface)? Are you happy to do this yourself, will your web designer do it or should this be included in costs? thanks. |

| To Mark Hi I will input all the information once the database has been created. Once you have created the database would you be available if anything was to go wrong which is really important? Also how would the cost work for that? Thanks Lou |

| Louise, it would be good to try and attach the file again - depending on the format you may need to put it in a zip file - PPH doesn\'t seem to get on with some file types. Perhaps you could clarify if you require a developer that\'s local to you or not. Paul |
