I was born and educated in England and have been a typist since 1973. I began on a manual typewriter... as a copy typist. I moved to South Africa in 1974, married and had four children. In South Africa I worked, for many years, for Anglo American where I used electric typewriters including the Golfball and then moved on to the Displaywriter. During this time I was a copy and dictaphone typist typing general and geological reports. In 1988 I left Anglo American and typed extensively for several market research companies (as a freelance typist). I began using Microsoft Word. This was dictaphone typing and included group and one-on-one interviews in a wide range of topics including general shopping, banking and medical. I also copy typed for students. In 1996 I returned, with my family, to England. I continued market research typing. I now work (again freelance) for an orthopaedic surgeon transcribing his reports on patients. I have recently written, and typed, two novels one of which has been initially assessed by a literary agent and will, hopefully, be published.
