May 2008 to present. Trained as a Kitchen Designer, and have enjoyed great sucess. I'm just as comfortable designing small galley type kitchens, as I am large bespoke designer kitchens. With years of sales experience and having spent years studying design, colour theory and now kitchen design, the work suits my outgoing personality down to the ground! March 2006 to May 2008. • Set up my own roofline business. After the demise of the previous company, I felt that with my knowledge of the roofline business, a partnership with my manager of the last year would be beneficial. I put in place all of the computer bookwork system using Microsoft Excel and generated art work for things like business cards, flyers, lead cards and contracts. Not only was I running the office and its staff, but I was covering leads when the reps weren’t able to. The company was fairly successful given the current economic climate, however unfortunately my partner felt it necessary to try to steal from both myself and the company by way of not declaring sales, or declaring less money than he had actually sold it for. I had no alternative but to pull out of the venture, since it was impossible to trust or work with him any longer. March 2005 to March 2006 • Reversed a declining roofline business, increasing revenue 100% in the first quarter and maintaining 75% to 100% for the remainder of the year. • Created an efficient direct marketing department. I altered the focus of the sales staff, to create an environment where staff felt by working for the good of the company, they were valued as people and not just involved in a ‘bring em in, burn em out culture’. • Improved profitability of a £2 million direct sales program after a two-year decline. • I also developed and programmed a computerized bookwork and workflow system, to link the initial lead through to the fitting, making all of the information regarding that particular fit, available to the heads of each department. This made the reps and canvassers less suspicious of where there leads/sales were in the system, and the entire business more “admin efficient”. • Reported via a weekly managers meeting to my business manager and MD, concerning the state of the business, and reporting how actions put ...into place had impacted the business. • Liaised every day with the canvass manager to ensure the continuation of quality... lead generation. Met with each canvass team at least once a week to talk through any issues. Held sales meetings every week to boost moral and train on any areas that were lacking. • Confirmed raw leads, phone closed with reps, swept unsold leads. • Provided a shoulder to cry on for the reps most days! June 2003 to Feb 2005 • Owned and ran my own UK and continental haulage business. I had the opportunity through an associate to set up and run a freight forwarding company with clients throughout Europe. We were delivering for such people as Vauxhall, Davis Turner, Lys Line, STS, Bernard’s freight etc. Not only did I run the business, but also spent a lot of time driving abroad. I drove both sprinter vans and 7 ½ ton vehicles to Denmark, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Austria and Italy. 2 of our biggest clients decided to use a much bigger freight company so we lost the contracts. This had the unfortunate consequence of making the business untenable. May 2000 to June 2003. • Project Manager for an Audio Visual Company. As project manager I was totally responsible for the smooth operation of an event, and was regularly required to work in excess of 16 hours per day. In fact I had the record for working a 93 hour week! My responsibilities were many and varied. I organized and ran site visits and organizational meetings with clients, throughout the length and breadth of the UK. I was then expected to deliver the event, organizing staff, hire of equipment, power supply, the smooth running of the event to include production of PowerPoint presentations, oversee set design and manufacture, lighting design and sound reinforcement. Some events were small (up to 20 people), but some were huge. British Gas, Fujitsu, NHS, BEA Systems etc. These kinds of event generally had themes and a bewildering array of graphics, set design, lights and atmosphere creation. All of these things I organized on a daily basis. The pressure was enormous and the room for error was nil. When I originally joined the company, it was as a set designer. Using Photoshop and 3d studio max, I was designing, creating and attaining recognition for my conference and presentation sets for some of the UK’s biggest companies. (44 years) • I have 4 children, and at present, am going through a divorce. • I don’t smoke. • I live with my partner and her daughter. • I have a full UK driving license and own an ’06 reg ford fiesta. • I am an active ‘live’ musician, and regularly ‘gig’ at weekends. After completion of the Ordinary Secondary level, I joined Savannah Vocational Training Institute to pursue a 2 years Certificate Course in Electrical Installation which I did pursue though I and all colleagues did not sit final exams because the then Director, did not register our school that year for the final exams despite the act that we had paid all dues. There was a strike and this ended that way with all students left with no alternative but to go home. I enrolled for Advanced Secondary education at Kiira High sch in Jinja where I did study my Senior Five and Six. I was awarded Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education on completion in 2005 with a combination in History, Economics, Divinity & Literature in English. I got 16 points which enabled me to enroll for University Education in 2006 under sponsorship by my Uncle, CDA. In my senior six vacation, I worked very hard on my Uncle's farm which earned his trust in me and the courage to pay all my bills for University Education. I pursued Bachelors of science in Business Statistics at Makerere University and completed in 2009 and was awarded a Second Class-Upper honors. Because he could not meet all my bills, I had to start work in 2007 while studying to meet some of my bills. I started formal work in 2007 as Marketer and after one year was promoted to the position of Marketing Personnel at Exmemo Systems for 3 years. I left Exmemo in January 2011, and signed a partnership contract with Awdisonic Uganda Ltd as their Distributor. As a distributor, I'm given merchandise which I distribute to wholesalers and my earnings are commission based. I love this job because it gives me freedom to do other things.
