Journalist, Editor, Translator
Dolgellau, United Kingdom
Self-employed journalist, proofreader, editor and translator (French to English), freelancing in the UK since 1992 and in the UK-France since
... 2009. Prior to that I was employed in university administration, and a variety of other sectors. BA(Hons) from the University of London. Member of the NUJ. I have a lot of life experience, I am co-operative, adaptable and receptive to the varying needs of different clients and audiences. Areas I have worked in extensively include B2B, travel and tourism, motoring, agribusiness, Franco-British issues, local history, myths and legends, environmental issues and healthy lifestyle. I also write short stories, of which around 30 have been published in anthologies and some have won national prizes. I have strong feelings about prostituting language to Google. Of course I accept the need for SEO and I am perfectly happy to write SEO content that is also informative and useful. But I won't 'spin' articles or churn out disingenuous, poorly-researched content which has no value and no purpose other than for the spiders to crawl. Language is a wonderful resource and should be treated with respect; I hate to see it being misused. I take pleasure in producing thoughtful, well-crafted pieces of writing that engage readers' attention and convey a clear message. If that's what you're looking for, I'd love to work with you.Skills:
