My family and i originated from Ireland but we moved to England so my parents might have more joy looking for work. I attended school in Wavertree and then moved to Crosby where I went to St Edmunds primary and Sacred Heart Catholic High secondary and Sixth Form. I studied ten GCSE and four A-Levels and then gained a place to study Integrated Engineering at the University of Liverpool. Throughout my life I have had a keen interest in all things technical and mechanical. During my years growing up with computers i have learned how to use the Microsoft suite with skill and have also done quite a lot of work with various computer graphics packages. I gained a grade A in Art at GCSE but did not follow that academic route as I thought it would be more effective for me to learn more in other areas of Science first. At university I found the amount of work required a challenge. The work ranged from Engineering Maths, Engineering Design to digital Electronics. I found the laboratory work very interesting and gained good marks for most of the hands on assessments. In the last year of University my individual project was to research into and design an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition Reactor) that are used in the electronics industry to lay fine layers of materials onto silicon wafers for the creation of transistors. I designed all of the components using Pro/Engineer and then used Pro/Engineers analysis tools to set up an internal and external pressure on the chamber that could estimate and display the loads on the material. I took 3 Design classes where we were walked through the stages of creating a model using Pro/Engineer, we were taught about the various extrude and feature creation tools. We were shown how to create assemblies using individual components and shown that they could be constrained to each other to make a mechanical assembly that had degrees of freedom and could mimic the real world situation. We, as a class, designed the parts of an engine cylinder with, crank, pushrod, cylinder and valves. We then used a program called Matlab to model the action and processes involved in the operation of such a cylinder in an engine, the forces and stresses involved. I have a keen interest in engineering and would like to gain an opportunity to progress in this area of work. Since I finished University I have been working as an Administrator for a Building Contracts firm where I have took over from the duties of the previous administrator. Since I last updated my CV there has been a global financial recession and jobs apparantly are harder to find, i have taken it upon myself and decided that i would like to work in areas of work relating to computer art creation and animation skills for movies and games as i think my background in engineering and my apditude towards the artistic could be an advantage to me in an area such as this. I have been teaching myself to use tools such as 3DS animation suite, Blender. and the Unreal Development Kit. This would remove the need for someone skilled in the use of a program such as SAGE accounting to have a Debtors or Creditors list for monthly payment credit and debit accounts. I have increased efficiency with this simple system with the use of bespoke user forms for invoice and payment data entry and macros that can repeat monotonous tasks calculating account balances from invoices entered for up to 70 suppliers. Performed monthly Bank Reconciliation. Calculated and paid any PAYE or VAT due on quarterly activity with the use of Microsoft Excel also. Project management timescale design complete with various tasks to be performed by each respective trades men to reach final project specifications. Stages of build include demolition if necessary; ground work, floor laying, joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrics, finishing etc. Materials quantity and labour cost predictions are made and project timeline is created to effectively manage staff. Ihave a varied background within the IT industry, working for both a payroll company as a programmer and then as... a system management advisor with the utility company National Grid. I am also a writer, current projects include working on my autobiography as well as comedy script writing. I have been writing privately for many years but I am just now getting it out into the public domain. I specialise in automated/intelligent spreadsheets and have automated many management information processes in my last position resulting in vast reductions in resources required. National Grid also ran all of its leavers/recruitment processes on databases that I created. These were created and maintainted by myself on my own for over ten years before a team was finally created. A better outsourced solution could not be found. I trained the new team. I am choosing now to go freelance as the office I worked it at National Grid closed. Working from home suits my personal circumstances although I can travel or be office based if the project requires it. I am also registered with Apple and am currently creating iphone and iPad applications.

I currently manage a number of sites that use PHP and MySQL databases, and I have many years experience working with CSS, HTML and Javascript. I currently work for a number eCommerce sites, including http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/ - which I 'inherited' from a previous developer, and http://www.ostarapublishing.co.uk/ which was developed in-house. I've been working with Laptopshop for at least 6 years, even between changes of company ownership and management. The site is almost entirely custom code including rewriterules and redirects to ensure the URLs have not been broken for nearly 10 years. The entire site was rewritten last year, solely by myself with help from a graphic designer and an advertising agency; the new site was put together in less than two months. I also wrote the payment and order systems, which currently uses Sagepay for processing. These were put together in two weeks, including coding for the backend system, a complex delivery charging system, and automatic stock level adjustments using the cheapest distributor. I'm happy working with PHP directly, or with other Frameworks, from the Zend Framework to applications such as ZenCart and OSCommerce. I'm also comfortable working with JQuery, AJAX and pride myself on valid HTML5 and CSS. I have always been able to work to tight deadlines; and happy to work on a scheduled or urgent basis. I am available at almost all hours of the day that suit you best. I'm also available to start immediately. My expertise is in HTML, PHP and MySQL primarily, but since I have worked online since 1994, my experience is vast and varied. It includes Linux (Gentoo, Ubuntu, Arch, Mint and others) with various MTAs including Courier, Postfix, Sendmail, etc. Experienced in Apache, PHP (including uploading and image manipulation), Perl, Pecl, FFMpeg, including optimisation. Visual Basic programming, Experienced in Windows 95 ...all the way to XP problem solving, and am experienced in programming, debugging software and hardware. I’ve worked with Microsoft... Windows, from version 3.11, through NT3.5 and 4, and Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP and Server 2003, as both a home operating system and in a network using Active Directory.
