I am born and bred from Hong Kong and moved over to the UK to start university. The transition across was particularly interesting because ethnically i'm from the UK, so people assumed I would know more than did when I first arrived. I remember looking particularly feeble trying to work out the currency in the shopping line, suffice is to say people weren't impressed. However, after living here for a while, I feel accustomed to British-ness (whatever that is) and drinking an inordinate amount of tea. I have started an MA in Social Research at Goldsmiths University, and have recently achieved a high first in Meda and Cultural Studies at the University of Sussex. Throughout the majority of my degrees I was also preoccupied with societies and outside volunteering to keep me entertained. I was an active contributor to ‘The Badger’ giving stories that detail the student experience, I also commented on political protests in Brighton and Hove, and reported stories that involved interviews. I was also the president and founder of the Capoeira society at the University of Sussex. This meant that I was responsible for hiring, and funding an instructor to teach at the university, I had to organise rooms and time available for classes, I am also responsible for taking people to Capoeira events outside of the university. Capoeira is a passion of mine so I spent time to dedicate ...my energies towards incorporating my University peers into this martial art. I also take part in several other martial arts,... I am a black belt in Karate and a green belt in kung fu, and have participated in kickboxing and tai chi. For a number of years I have had a keen interest in photography and photoshopping, and I contribute to an online gallery with my work. I also worked as a product researcher on the side of my university which was an amazing opportunity. I worked for a budding online company and got to see how much of a difference my work was making on it's development which i felt was satisfying. Growing up in an international city like Hong Kong enabled me to travel with relative ease and it has been something that I wish to continue because I love enveloping myself in other cultures. I also worked a lot whilst in Hong Kong as an english tutor. I'd like to think of myself as personable and love to meet new challenges and have cultivated a strong work ethic.
