Currently a PhD Student in Lancaster University I have worked on many PHP websites (hasn't everyone?) and quickly decided to prefer Java in ...my paid work. Besides this core I have had success in the implementation of hardware and microcontroller based projects and have implemented a Java Virtual Machine that can run in 8KB of RAM on a PIC24F and Philips XA Series Processors.
