From time to time, I also work with a select team of graphics designers, copy writers and programmers who collaborate with me on projects on an as needed basis. I'm a snowboarder and musician. I've been snowboarding since 1986 and have always loved the mountains. I've boarded all throughout the American west, the Alps, the Tatras and other locales. My career has required me to acquire and develop skills in fundraising, project and event management, evaluation and research, organisational development and staff management (employees, freelance workers and volunteers). My experience in fundraising has seen success in securing funds through a wide range of sources including charitable trusts and foundations, local and central government, and private donations. I am particularly proud of my track record at Firebird as over my 6 years as Executive Director I increased unrestricted funds three-fold and secured regular annual funding to underwrite core costs. I was also responsible for setting up new structures within the organisation to extend the Firebird “family” and provide the foundations for a series fund-raising events, donor programmes, and to increase local community engagement. Although my role as Executive Director at Firebird required a degree of emphasis on strategic planning and organisational development, as a small charity I also had direct responsibility for ensuring programmes and projects had adequate funding and that a full cost recovery model ensured each initiative contributed back to the core of the organisation. My contacts extend through different sectors including health, arts, education, social care, criminal justice and local government and my work has focussed on connecting people and communities with the professionals who can help them achieve their aspirations and ambitions. I am well-versed ...in many aspects of computing and digital technology from the usual Microsoft products through to open source software, social media... and website design. I also have a thorough knowledge of the requirements and practice of managing finances for third-sector organisations and particular experience in maintaining budgetary systems for project work. I recently left my position at Firebird due to a shift in personal circumstances on becoming a single-parent. I am now looking for a home-based position where I can have the flexibility to better balance my professional and parental obligations.
