My name ...is Simon i am an enthusiastic graphic designer. My current role is Lead Graphic Designer for an Italian property company.... I am responsible for original creation and brand development, across a broad range of applications from vehicle livery and exhibitions to advertising and printed marketing material. I have approaching 8 years of commercial design experience and have been lucky enough to have worked for some of the Southwest's finest advertising agenceys. I studied Website Technologies at a London college and shortly after became employed by a large franchise print & design company as a artworker, they sent me on various courses and taught me design for print from the ground up, this was an excellent grounding, starting as mainly spot colour Litho work after which I was given more artistic license, from there excelled in print design and have completed many different complex projects. Branding, logo design and seeing the concept neatly repeated through lots of different media is something which I very much enjoy doing. I am very experienced in working closely with clients and seem to build a trust worthy rapour with all customers I work for. I am happy to get involved in preparing proposals and in turn pitching them to clients, formally or informally. I am fully conversant with Adobe CS3, and am also very proficient with the new CS4 application suite. I am constantly updating my skills and knowledge with design software as this is such a fast moving industry. i am also currently learning alot about 3D modeling and specifically using ArciCAD and Vue Extreme to help create and render internal and external CGI's for use in promoting off-plan property.

I also possess a detailed knowledge of Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7 and perform regular maintenance on many people’s computers when a fault appears, I have built several PCs and replaced components, networked PCs and also possess a good knowledge of OSX and several OSX based programs. Over the course of my professional career I have written many reports and pieces for review by my peers and in doing so believe I have developed a good understanding of the English Language and the ability to edit work that I have produced and that has been produced by others. Weekly research paper review sessions during my PhD have also improved my eye for detail and mistakes in high level work. My PhD has also required that I possess a good understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator in which I have produced figures for reports and presentations. While working as a Draftsman before attending university I used AutoCAD to transpose technical drawings of Electrical systems in an Aluminium Smelting facility in the USA. Everything is SMT mounted. - Participation in development of UTMS TMA (Tower Mount Amplifier). The unit consists of an amplifier part and a filter part. The amplifier is doubled and in case of error, the signal is lead thru directly. Also there is interface for control of antenna tilt. - Transmitter/receiver. Working in the band 250 to 500MHz with 100KHz raster. It contains a loop antenna which covers the entire band. The unit is controlled by a u-computer with display and keyboard. - Construction of inductive transmitter and receiver in the range 1 – 30MHz. Investigation of influence from external B-field on above mentioned construction. Combiners: - Hybrid-combiners. Combine up to 8 cell-phones on one antenna. These are made on 42 X 124mm PCB’s. Thickness is 1, 7mm. These include 1 pc. 2 to 1 combiner, 2 pcs. 4 to 1 combiners and 2 pcs. extra terminations. All combiners have SMT mounted 2W terminations. Two models are developed. One Dual Band GSM/DCS and one for UMTS. VCO’s and PLL’s: - VCO’s and PLL’s for 100MHz and 800MHz. - 3GHz PLL - Phase-noise optimization of UHF VCO. Neighbour channel selectivity > 70dB. - Various circuits: VCO's, PLL’s, frequency synthesisers and more. Other: - Microwave Generator and "antenna head" for heating of biological material. TV Designs - CATV AGC Amplifier for FM & TV (47 – 862MHz). Adjustable gain and AGC level. The Amplifier has 38dB gain and the output level is > 110dBuV in 75ohm. - Timebase/timing circuit for Waveform Monitor/Vectorscope. - A very efficient sync separator – developed as SMT module, especially made for "Sound in Sync" video. - Quadrature Modulator for NICAM digital stereo on cable TV. - Receiver part of "Fibre To The Home" project (FTTH). - Redesign of home TV Distribution Amplifier. The unit has return path for internet and infrared link for remote control of Satellite Receiver, DVD and more. - Inverse tilt circuit and Diplex Filter for above mentioned (up to 862MHz). - Test equipment for test and adjustment of multimedia home distribution unit (TV, radio, internet and phone). The equipment consists of a base unit and 8 remote units. The tests consist of a wiremap test, test for shorts and test of frequency response on the wall outlet. The design include construction of 100MHz and 800MHz VCO’s and PLL’s. Power Electronics: - Switch Mode Power Supply – has high dynamic range in the input voltage. - Switch Mode Power Supply and Pulse Wide Modulator for electric train. - Wind Mill control units and soft connection of Wind Mills to the mains. - Pulse Wide Modulated voltage converter – 230V sinus. - DC- motor control (PWM) for medical equipment. - Isolation converter for RIAA preamplifier. Very litle capasitive coupling. - Investigation of sun-cell’s load-profile. Genneral Electronics: - Infrared transmitters, receivers and motion sensors of different models. - RIAA preamplifier for record players. Build with very low noise op-amps. EMC- and radio tests - EMC- and radio tests of a new product (I can’t mention the product, since I have signed a NDA) at Intertek in Stockholm. Before the test was performed, investigation was made of witch tests was necessary for sale in the USA, Canada and EU. The product includes both WiFi and ZigBee. This demand a radio test. The project was interrupted because the customer was bankrupt. - EMC test of infrared transmitters and receivers developed by Polar Lab. 6 different models have been tested. The tests were performed at Jyske EMC (witch later was bought by Delta). Some of the tests was performed in Polar Lab’s own lab. - EMC test of cable-TV amplifier (multimedia unit) developed by Polar Lab. The test were performed in the LK EMC test lab. London, England. www.scenapro.com Scena is a specialist contractor specialising in large scale, high quality, themed, interior fit-outs. For four years I worked as a CAD Technician / Design Draughtsman for Scena Projects in London. I have worked on Theatre, Conference, Motorshows, Exhibitions but specialised mainly on scenic fit outs for prestigious new museums & museum galleries. One of the jobs being the fit out of the National maritime museum Cornwall in Falmouth for which Scena won the BCIA award. I was the sole draughtsman for this project, which had an approximate value of £4 million. My role at Scena Usually a site survey had to be done before I could begin to draw. This involved going to site & taking as built dimensions & drawing an “Empty G.A.” I would then meet with Scena’s clients, usually interior design studios. They would show me their design visuals & sketches, which I then take & keeping the budget in mind, draw up “the reality”. This would involve sourcing & getting costs for cutting edge materials to produce unique & innovative structures within budget. The approval process would be ongoing throughout the duration of the project moving from gallery to gallery with the design brief & drawing sign off meetings being organised & setup by myself. I used AutoCAD for the 2D drawings & Mechanical desktop as a 3D-modeling tool. If there were any structural elements, Scena had a structural engineer to advise with this. Once the designers had approved my drawings I then ordered the materials from the various suppliers & put construction drawings out to various specialist sub-contractors & into Scena’s steel fabrication & timber workshops, keeping the pressure up on the contractors & workshops to keep to tight deadlines. The next stage was to provide installation drawings for the Scena site manager & arrange transport. Museum fit outs comprise of structures built from various materials such as Glass, Stainless steel, GRP, Plywood’s, Hardwoods, softwoods, polymers, composite panels & other materials with the highest quality of finishes. A.V. equipment & cables have to be allowed for & fitted into these objects to form interactive units. They have yet to pose a serious threat to Fluorescents in the indoor applications in terms of energy or cost savings however LEDs do excel in outdoor applications. Their longer life, low maintenance, light quality and working temperature make them ideal for outdoor lighting. I have also developed an expertise in specialist lighting areas such as Atrium, Breakout spaces, Architectural, Reception areas and external lighting calculations. I have also given presentations at our clients offices and given expert advice back to them on what best lighting products would be for them. After high school I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with Thorn EMI Electronics, where I worked & studied to be an Audio/Visual electronics technical engineer, working on the leading home and industrial electronic brands, and attending college on day release for 5 years, studying 224 electronics, in the fields of Analogue Electronics Technology, Digital Electronics Technology, Television & Radio Reception Technology, Video Recording Technology, Electronic Systems, System Control, & Microprocessors, scoring highest possible marks in most fields. After leaving Thorn EMI, I worked ...for various Electronics companies, including Sony and Hitachi, before settling again to work for the biggest electronics service repair company... in the south east of England, GGN, where I worked for 7 years as a bench & field engineer, working to component level on home and industrial electronics and computer systems. In my last few years as an Engineer, I felt it was time for a change. I still had a high interest in computer arts, and was already very skilled at illustration and airbrush work, so decided to study 3D Animation.
