Freelance Events Assistant and Stage Manager, Amy B

Freelance Events Assistant and Stage Manager

Cheltenham, United Kingdom
I got my first taste of working within the industry as site crew on various events and festivals. During this time I was able to learn about the processes behind planning events and the onsite requirements to ensure that the festivals ran smoothly. My positive experiences here led me to develop my skills by working backstage in both the hospitality and stage management departments. This experience was invaluable as I was able to develop my customer interaction skills, and learn about the technical aspects of theatre and events. Over a few years I gradually worked my way up till I became the main stage manager. This undoubtedly led to my decision to take a degree in stage management and technical theatre. Through college, I kept up my freelance work, as well as doing 6 work placements a year, and lectures! Although this kept me very busy, I was able to explore different avenues and disciplines, and learn a basic understanding of all aspects of theatre and events. I made the decision towards the end of my degree that I wanted to work in the corporate side of events and so took up the position of Events Assistant at AXA. Here I was able to develop my understanding of corporate events and was able to learn a lot from the experienced event managers around me. Having worked as a stage manager in theatre and events, I feel that both experiences have helped me to develop a rounded knowledge of technical production. My event experience has helped me to learn about the requirements of artists and speakers, and to liaise with them to create the best schedule for their needs. Working in theatre was a very different experience, but through it I developed not only technical skills, but also people skills, organisation and management. Theatre work also enabled me to develop my creative skills both in design aspects such as props and set plans, as well as in paperwork, such as risk assessments and budgets. College enabled me to explore different areas of the industry, allowing me to decide upon to route I wanted to take. I took lectures in stage management, lighting, sound, electrics, event management and stagecraft, as ...well as more academic subjects such as theatre history. This allowed me to learn about the technical aspects of all... aspects of the industry and put them into practice in our practical lectures and work placements. My college experience also allowed me to develop aspects of my personality such as organisation, time management and people skills. Although theatre was the main focus of the course, we concentrated mainly on events during the third year. During my placements, I chose to concentrate mainly on stage management and events, as I felt this would be most beneficial for my career. I feel a lot of the processes and skills I learnt during these placements are relevant to working within the events industry, and it gave me experience in aspects such as risk assessments and budgeting. After college, I made the decision to work in corporate events, as this is the area I enjoy and work best within. Working at AXA enabled me to learn about the delegate side of organising events, which I have previously not worked in. My role at AXA is very diverse, ranging from administration roles through to working on events and email teasers for prize schemes. This experience has certainly shown my ability to put my hand to anything that is required of me. I would be grateful if you could consider me for any job opening you have at present. I am eager to work hard to fulfil any job I am given to the best of my ability.

Web and Print Design, dale h

Web and Print Design

Rossendale, United Kingdom
I first decided to get into web design way back at the end of the last century, yeah sounds an age ago. I remember being sat in front p100 PC in 1994 or 95 when a good friend showed me something on his computer, its was page with animations, text and images, it looked like a moving, interactive page from a magazine and it was known as a web page, oh yeah he also showed me something called ‘email’. After I finished school where we had a total of 12 PC’s and 2 Macs shared between 800 students I have studied Business, Business Information Technology, New Media Design and Technology all at college and university. I have an appetite for learning and feel this industry fills that need, although I have number of other interests and will learn anything I can get my hands on , my main passion is Interaction between ourselves and technology. I don't limit myself to thinking only web, but app, mobile, even augmented reality. I haven't however limited myself to working in one industry, and purposely worked in many different sectors including retail, distribution, manufacturing, banking and ICT support to name a few. I wanted to gain a real understanding of how these different industries and companies operate, and learn something new from each one. Anything new or innovative was studied in my own time during these periods of employment so I could hopefully contribute towards the success of each and every company I have worked at. When I went to study an Information Technology, It was ...here where I was fully introduced to web design and other computing subjects giving me a well-rounded education in all... things PC and IT, and taking a real interest in HCI at that time pushed me toward my New Media qualification later in life. I’ve known the web, and design long enough to remember the introduction CSS and the plethora of languages and tools that followed. When Dreamweaver was first introduced I was there, when Flash was first introduced I was there, and now I'm seeing even more improvements that are rapidally changing the way web designers and the industry view what their roles and purpose. In 2009 I came to realisation that IT Support and the progression into management wasn’t the way forward for me. I always had a secret passion in web design and Flash, but trying to code HTML, CSS, and Javascript after a nine-hour day of fixing one thing or the other, well it sort of takes it out of you. So I had a choice go it alone, take a risk and go back to University, or carry on. I went it alone, I applied for a degree course in New Media, got accepted, started, and here we are. Last Year: (One year in to the course I am currently on target for a first honours degree, helping local companies and friends with their facebook pages, or new designs for print and web.) I've now completed my course, worked well and got my deserved mark. Since I have been working freelance while studying, I am now looking for full time employment or the possibility of joining or making a new company. Now I'm ready to offer services to a broader audience, hoping to help many of you out there with your web, app or print design needs. I can provide more examples of work to any clients and aim to be as helpful as possible. I am competent, well versed with the web, and a hungry for more. I work damn hard, damn, damn hard to provide the very best to my customers and haven't disappointed one yet. I love what I do and this matters, so if you would like that sort of person working with you or for you please feel free to get in touch. info@creativsauce.com

I also enjoy the performance aspect of teaching • presenting a lesson in such a way to achieve the best learning experience for the students. At University, I was fortunate to be able to study my two great passions side by side. English and Education, and the provision of English within Education are very important to me. The modules within the Educational Studies area of my degree were incredibly beneficial to enable me to understand the methods and theory behind education • including looking at the cognitive and psychological development of children in learning, which I found particularly interesting. My first opportunity to teach was provided by Barley Lane School in Exeter where I worked as a teaching assistant for 2 months. Barley Lane is a small school situated on the outskirts of Exeter which provides education and support for up to 46 boys with emotional and behavioural difficulties from around Devon. The school follows the National Curriculum and provides education that is broadly similar to that which a pupil would receive in a mainstream school. However, the small classes mean that individual help can be given to pupils who have particular difficulties. I was assigned to work with groups of 2 -4 boys, sometimes on my own to help with classroom studies, English and general difficulties during the school day. I was also asked at times to work as a mentor on English and Maths.

The system also handles mesh and other concrete reinforcing accessories. *Eliminate repetitive data entry When you set up a customer or job in Rebar Financials, the background and engineering defaults that you define are automatically available for Bar List, CAD/Detailing, and Production applications. A financial solution to meet your needs. aSa offers two versions of its powerful Rebar Financials package: the base package is designed for companies that supply primarily fabricated rebar and other concrete accessories; the Inventory Management package is a better solution for companies with advanced distribution needs, such as dual-role rebar fabricators/construction material suppliers. Click here for a comparison. Bundle Inventory aSa Bundle Inventory tracks on-hand stock and remnant material by combining the portability and convenience of a hand scanner with the power of database-driven information storage. When a mill bundle is opened, simply scan its stock tag for real-time inventory relief. The system also simplifies material receipts, remnant tracking, and book to physical reconciliations. Additionally, flexible reports show you the quantity, location, and value of your on-hand material. * Eliminate tedious inventory tracking The entire process is automated using bar code scanning technology. To relieve inventory, simply scan the bundle’s inventory tag. * Order stock and plan production with ease Knowing exactly what material you have on-hand, and where it is in your shop, helps you make quicker smarter production and material purchasing decisions. * Scan and store mill certificates Mill certs — in any electronic file format — can be attached to heat information within aSa software when material is received. * Automate book to physical Reconciliations Book to physical procedures are as simple as scanning your on-hand inventory tags and validating the quantity displayed on the scanner. * Manage heat information Enter heat information when material is received. PR and Marketing Specialist

Bournemouth, United Kingdom
Denise Rayner MCIPR A Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations since 1985 Flat 1, 25 Alumhurst Road, Westbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH4 8EL Home: Mobile: Email: Contact details removed to comply with Peopleperhour rules CURRICULUM VITAE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES (PLEASE CLICK *more FOR THE REST OF MY CV) • Starting at London Broadcasting Radio, then Thames TV and moving on to the Central UK Government, Denise has a proactive and robust, whilst always diplomatic approach coupled with gravitas and credibility. She is a passionate, confident, results driven, creative and effective publicist, sales person, a clear and creative writer; conceptual designer, impressive and persuasive presenter; excellent organiser; team-leader as well as team-player; an extremely productive fund-raiser and successful securer of sponsorship. She is a thorough researcher who seeks out stakeholder’s needs and fulfils their requirements. She also has a very keen eye for detail and, having worked in Government, has written, proof-read and produced some of this country's most important publications, advertisements and notices. Denise is an all-round marketing, public relations/publicity professional and is quick to grasp news angles and opportunities to produce targeted results. An ideas person with a “can-do” approach applied extensively in past Government and multi-media positions. A one-woman advertising agency with the right associates to produce desired results. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS • Worked for Thames Television for 10 years and gained a lifetime of contacts and knowledge of the TV World. This was very useful to her in her next post at the Central Office of Information (COI), where her remit was to gain ‘free’ TV airtime for the broadcasting of fillers (Government owned public information films, on often life-saving “health, safety and welfare” issues). She achieved this very successfully for Government clients such as: Department of Health; Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; Department of Trade and Industry; Home Office; Department of Transport; Foreign and Commonwealth Office; Department for Works and Pensions; Maritime and Coastguards Agency and the Ministry of Defence. • Working for the COI, she annually achieved circa £40 million worth of free airtime from TV stations following her introduction of new concepts to promote these films, increasing past Government records by 40%. At a time of enormous political sensitivity, and faltering COI understanding and appreciation, the future of the “50 year old COI/TV filler system” was in great danger of becoming commercialised. This would have ultimately led to the demise of this system and a loss of many millions of ...pounds of free airtime annually "donated" to the Government. Denise was unexpectedly invited to attend a meeting of all Whitehall... Heads of Information at their monthly meeting to discuss the planned privatisation of fillers. At that very time, Denise's Mother died unexpectedly. and according to her religion, should have stayed in mourning for at least a week. However Denise felt it imperative she made the Heads of Information aware of the danger of their actions. As Head of the TV Marketing Unit, Denise made an unprepared speech to this meeting to demonstrate and explain the dangers and was successful in stopping these plans from going ahead. • As a Press Officer with Defra (Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), Denise was tasked with organising a Press Conference for MP Michael Meacher to announce that the Government were giving £100, 000 to the “Save the Great Ape” campaign, headed by Ian Redmond. She needed to create a photo opportunity to allow Mr. Meacher to be pictured with a gorilla – but the story referred to great apes in the wild and not behind cages of a zoo. She was also concerned that Mr. Meacher could potentially be mauled by a gorilla. She remembered The Rainforest Café in London’s Piccadilly which has animatronics on a lifelike “gorilla mountain”. She asked the Café, who agreed to allow the Press Conference to be held there free of charge; resulting in more press and photographers attending the conference than ever attended usual Defra conferences, including TV and radio. Mr. Meacher personally wrote to Denise after the event to thank her for her (his words), “innovative work and amazing results”. • Was a part of the original team that discovered Satellite TV, which was later sold to Rupert Murdoch. CAREER HISTORY September 2011 - Qualified as an Accredited “Sue Stone Happiness, Empowerment and Confidence Coach”.
