I hold a PhD in Development Geography and Public Policy from the University of London, a Masters (Distinction) in Development Studies from University of London, and a BA (Honours) in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Archaeology. I am trained as a researcher in the social sciences and my areas of speciality include: sustainability, poverty, livelihoods, governance, economic migration, tourism as a tool for economic development, climate change, child rights, child labour and trafficking. I have specific experience and expertise with regard to Asia, South Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East and West Africa. Among other things, I have led a multilingual research team for field research in south India, worked on a microcredit programme in south America, and worked as an aidworker in a post-disaster area. Previously, I was a lecturer at University of London and have been a thesis supervisor for Masters students. I have also worked as an editor for the UK's Department of Education, undertaking web content and web editing - both copy and content editing for educational and school pages, government policy papers and White papers. Previously, I was also the advertising manager for an advertising and publishing company in London and was in charge of six London trade magazines. I am co-founder and research director at ID Project Solutions (IDPS), a UK based international development services and training consultancy.
