Working with various sport, sport casual, sport heritage and denim brands including Henri Lloyd, Bench, Lyle& Scott and many others I’ve gained solid ability to design footwear within the brief but always seeking and introducing new fresh ideas along with strong commercial ones. I have designed men's, ladies and children's ranges from commercial products to more mid-higher end leather shoes varying from casual, sport and technical sport. I have also taken the designs through the development process by creating detailed specifications for uppers, outsoles and all trims used, checked pullovers and BP's and improved the styles on the sample stage. The pace of the work has been very fast so I have learnt to be efficient and focused with my work and always hit the deadlines. I’m eager to improve, learn and study more about design. With analytical approach to my own work and working methods I try to improve all aspects of my skill set all the time. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS4 and below. I was born in Colchester, England in 1972, and developed a talent for drawing at a very early age, drawing lifelike illustrations of nature and objects as early as 3yrs old. I became interested in computers at age 11, and later became interested in using computers for CG art. After high school I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with Thorn EMI Electronics, where I worked & studied to be an Audio/Visual electronics technical engineer, working on the leading home and industrial electronic brands, and attending college on day release for 5 years, studying 224 electronics, in the fields of Analogue Electronics Technology, Digital Electronics Technology, Television & Radio Reception Technology, Video Recording Technology, Electronic Systems, System Control, & Microprocessors, scoring highest possible marks in most fields. After leaving Thorn EMI, I worked for various Electronics companies, including Sony and Hitachi, before settling again to work for the biggest electronics service repair company in the south east of England, GGN, where I worked for 7 years as a bench & field engineer, working to component level on home and industrial electronics and computer systems. In my last few years as an Engineer, I felt it was time for a change. I still had a high interest in computer arts, and was already very skilled at illustration and airbrush work, so decided to study 3D Animation. I purchased AutoDesk’s 3D Studio Max version 4.2 in December 2001, and spent 3 years developing my skills as a hobby in my spare time. Since then, I have become very skilled in all areas of 3ds Max and paint packages such as Photoshop, Paintshop X2 & painter X. I have focused primarily on learning Modelling and custom rigging systems, learning all the various techniques and styles to suit all industries and uses. My modelling skills are now at a very advanced stage and I am able to model quickly, with clean accurate geometry, whether modelling completely in quads, or mixed for Arch Viz, and completely in triangles for certain game engines. I have an advanced understanding of the rules of 3D modelling, geometry and subdivision surfaces. My rigging & wiring skills are also at a very advanced level, whether its setting up a rigging system for an advanced character animation using bones, parameter wiring and controllers, using the biped system, or setting up an animation for a complex mechanical design. Over the years that I have been developing my skills with 3ds max, I have not just focused on the two aspects of modelling and rigging but have a very advanced knowledge in all areas of using 3ds max e.g. Dynamics, particle systems, biped, CAT, WS-Modifiers, OS-Modifiers, Materials, lighting, rendering and animation techniques… the list is endless, and it doesn’t matter how many years you use max; you never stop learning new things. Involves all services from stream 1 added to the following: Apart from basic production i also undertake services coordination/ clash detection exercises during the Schematic and DD stages. This involves sharing of consultant drawings/ sketches. I then convert the data to a coordinated plan highlighting any clashes/ problems with and between services such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire lines, data cables, acoustics etc. and with structure, with shafts opening sizes/ cores, with false ceiling heights, false floors etc. I also specialize in resolving MEP and services block planning of Electrical rooms/ equipments, DG rooms, Switch gear rooms, HVAC related services AHU's , chillers, cooling towers and pumps etc. Stream 3: Design and Deliver. Involves stream 1 and 2 as necessary in addition to the following. I receive a brief from you describing the requirement of the project, space available, budget, any specific aesthetic taste or orientation, location / context, possible user group and a basic timeline. Any other special needs eg, any certifications or special codes it needs to adhere to. Step 1 - With that data and climatic/ material data at my end i begin with formation of a basic framework (Design Basis Report - DBR) outlining the approach to design, my role in it, involvement of third parties and consultants as and when required, setting up of list of deliverables, timelines etc. Step 2 - Post acceptance of this framework i start the concept design stage producing 3 or more options/ variants for the scheme. These options are shared with you and together we finalize one. In case other options need to be prepared Step 2 is repeated. Step 3 - The selected scheme is then further developed into a schematic design with appropriate programs and building supports in place, it is shared with all the consultants on board and a schematic draft combining all inputs is is released. Step 4 - Design Development. This involves complete refinement of the schematic design with regards to architectural details, structural systems, interior materials and their makes, services and their installation drawings/ procedures, finishes, sizes, estimates and quantities of materials that will be required. Post this exercise a drawing set representing all this data is produced and shared with you. Step 5 - GFC release. A Good For Construction document set is prepared and shared as a complete drawing set for the project. I have tried to keep the methodology as simple and uncluttered as possible. Each step above has many sub stages that get elaborated on prior to the commencement of that stage.

I also spent two years as an intern for the Tulane department of electrical engineering setting up web servers, writing web pages, and tutoring PHP. During my second degree I worked for Entergy, Inc modeling thermal activity in power line transformers. Once I finished university, I moved to the UK and worked as a software consultant. This job involved writing programs for middleware, which is software that glues together other computer programs and databases. One of the great benefits of being a consultant was traveling all over Europe and the UK . Finally, in October of 2006, I got the chance to combine software engineering with space science at UCL-MSSL. Why did you choose this career path? When I was 15 years old, I decided to become an astronomer. When I asked for advice, two astronomers at Vanderbilt University told me to get a degree in physics with maths or engineering. "That way, if you still love astronomy when you finish university, you'll have a great background. If you're bored senseless by astronomy, you'll still have a great background." I used that advice to shape my university education; professors allowed me to tailor projects, papers, and elective courses around my interest in space science. While my physics courses exposed me to the mechanics behind space objects - light, thermodynamics, relativity, cosmology, and electromagnetism, my engineering courses taught me about the instruments and data analysis techniques used to study space.Not all of my jobs have involved space, but they have all involved computers. With each position I learned new software, different programming languages, and better technical architecture skills. I like software engineering because I can work with data on any subject - galaxies, power lines, or the price of baked beans - and my brain gets to be logical and creative at the same time Software engineering goes beyond computer programming; I have written computer programs in all of my jobs, but I have only been a software engineer during my last two jobs. What's the difference? Before writing a single line of code, a software engineer finds out what the software needs to do, how much it can cost, and how soon it needs to be ready. Next, the best hardware, support software, programming languages, computer environments, and schedule are selected and modeled on paper. What does your current work involve? I am the project manager for eSDO, an e-science project funded by PPARC to make data and algorithms from the Solar Dynamic Observatory mission available to UK solar scientists using the grid. This project covers three main areas: first, writing solar algorithms and deploying them on the web; second, setting up a UK data centre to store magnetic and multi-wavelength data; and third, creating visualization data and techniques to help scientists decide what data they want to use. I am also a developer for the AstroGrid virtual observatory project, and I work on solar tools and intelligent resource discovery. I have recently gotten the opportunity to work on an outreach project with scientists at UCL-MSSL and the BBC Kings wood facility; we are designing a system that will allow students to measure the cosmic microwave background using a satellite television dish. Work at UCL-MSSL is quite varied; since I started working at the lab in 2007, I have written an on-board bright star catalogue for Swift, helped calibrate the ultraviolet filters for the Swift UVOT (pre-launch) and XMM-OM (post-launch), worked on the UK data centre design for the Solar-B satellite, and coded for the Astrogrid registry, OGSA-DAI database system, solar science cases. Objective What cool projects have you worked on at Microsoft? The main project I'm working on right now involves changing the way that projects request and obtain computing resources. I've been trying to make sure that the allocation of resources and building of machines interact correctly and that the needs of all the projects out there are satisfied. I've also been using my 30% time to get exposure to some completely different areas of Microsoft technology by helping out with different projects.
